Topic: Your public library may carry games.

I can't guarantee your public library will have games, but its worth checking. I know for a fact that my library contains games as far back as the Wii era; and while the modern triple-A titles they carry usually have triple digit wait times, you can usually borrow some of their older or less popular games without waiting too long. If your looking to play a game but can't/don't want to pay the associated price, borrowing from the library can be a great way to do so.

@theDLCguy alas, my library is quite big, but it’s only for books and summer programs for little kids. It would be awesome just to find a secret shelf with a copy of NSMB Wii or something and then take off

Yeah, my local library has a decent selection from gen 7 on up.
