I've finished luigis mansion 1 and I'll move onto castlevania lords of shadows mirror of fate for the first time. What says Halloween gaming like some good ol castlevania? Part of me wants to also fire up an RE game, but I know I won't finish in time for mario + rabbids 2.
Not sure if I'll get up to much in the digital space since I spend a good chunk of my weekends in the month of October scaring the living daylights out of people as a haunted house volunteer. Unless we consider what I'm doing an ultra HD version of a game? XD I did play Metroid Dread earlier this year. I originally wanted to save it for around now but couldn't wait.
Currently playing: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Ys Seven (PC)
Alien: Isolation
The Count Lucanor

...would be some of my favorite horror games I enjoy this time of year. I would like to include Dying Light because I enjoy that game immensely, but it gradually becomes a power-fantasy once your skill tree is maxed out.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,294 games (as of September 28th, 2024)

Not sure if this exactly counts as a horror game, but I did just replay Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest over the last couple of evenings. It's a short Visual Novel set in the World of Darkness and heavily features the Białowieża Forest on the border between Poland and Belarus.
Currently playing: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Ys Seven (PC)
I picked up Metroid Dread on sale a few days back and it's fantastic. Makes me wish there were more modern 2D Metroid games. I like them way more than the Prime series.
Also I'm replaying Luigi's Mansion on the 3DS AND Luigi's Mansion 3. The controls in the 3DS aren't great but it's still a charming game. 3 on the other hand - during my original playthrough I thought it was just okay. Well, for whatever reason, i'm having a lot of fun with it now. It's fun to just explore the hotel and see Luigi getting scared by ghosts. Truelly, it is the best adaptation of 'The Shining' (eat your heart out, Stanley Kubrick).

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.
Got myself a small Halloween gaming treat today. GOG had an arcade classics sale, and I grabbed Monster Bash before the sale ended. It's a platformer by Apogee Software (the ones behind many DOS classics). The game is about a boy in polka dot pajamas named Johnny Dash, as he fights monsters, skeletons, and other spooky enemies with a slingshot through horror-themed levels on a quest to save his dog Tex, who was kidnapped by Count Chuck.
Fun game so far, even if it's challenging, but it does not feel unfair or too overly difficult. There is easy, medium, and hard, but it mostly seems to just adjust the health status (9 hits being easy, 3 hits being hard).
Sometimes if i ever get a chance to play an old horror game when im not busy doing my horror movies watch a thon, sometimes replay Resident Evil Directors Cut for my old Playstation or replay Resident Evil Remake and/or Code Veronica for my Nintendo Gamecube
It's that time of the year, summer is behind us and before you know it the ghouls and ghosts will be out in force which can me only one thing, Halloween season. To go with the season I usually play a handful of spooktacular games leading up to Halloween, this year won't be any different. This year I plan to play the following.
Diablo III (Switch) Yes I know 4 is out but I have had the itch to do some runs with my Demon Hunter always a pleasure.
Super Castlevania IV (SNES) This year I was able to get a Super NT console so I figure what better time to replay one of my favorite Castlevania games.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES) Going to play this one with my son for some multiplayer action.
After those are done there's a few more I might play depending on how much time I have.
So what horror games is everyone else playing for Halloween?
@Tasuki I'll probably dive back in to complete Pumpkin Jack. I'm 80%+ through the story. If anyone hasn't played it, I thought it was a bit weak at first (partly because it's new IP), but then I got into it. It's a pretty good game - as most reviews are postive for it. (pumpkin jack is currently on sale for $8.99 NA)
I'm still sitting on the Ghostbusters game. I got it super cheap on eshop during the pandemic, and I think I think I'll finally boot it up sometime between now and October.
I'm also about 80% through Luigi's Mansion(Switch). Haven't played it since last fall.
I should probably actually finish both Luigi's mansion and Pumpkin Jack also.
In terms of actual scary games, I have a low tolerance, but I'll try to play Fatal Frame this Halloween which I bought on sale awhile back and haven't played yet.
Love Halloween, it's definitely my favorite time of year. This year will be no different for me in terms of gaming. I usually always play something Halloween related starting in September.
However, it's such a packed September and October gaming wise I won't have a ton of time to play Halloween type games. With that said, 2 games I bought in sales and haven't touched are resident evil 8, and SotN. I will at least play 1 of them, just not sure which yet.
Before the eshop got nuked, I downloaded Yo Kai Watch 1 and 2, since I sold the physical versions of both years ago out of financial desperation you could say. Some boss fights in those games are just pure nightmare fuel, and I played those games a few years back on Halloween before Covid hit. Might do the same this year, or just some generic game like Mario Wonder
