@gcunit totally agree that it is a fine movie with some interesting concepts and not much more, but where do you get the idea of it being overrated? It got a 7.9 score on IMDB which i would say it is fine. Was it really that big in 2016? I can't remember tbh. Or just overrated in regards to the comments on this forum?

@Solaine I listen to a regular film podcast by a couple who, while I don't necessarily share the same tastes, respect their opinions, and Arrival got multiple 'big-ups' in the last few episodes I've listened to, so what with that, and the mention in here, it seemed pretty well-regarded, and internet entries I've looked up since watching it suggest it was very well received critically. I just don't rate it as highly as all those aforementioned sources basically.
@FroZtedFlakerZz Tom Cruise is too short to be a super hero, they need a real man like Bruce Campbell to put the man in Iron Man!!!!
@Solaine 7.9 is kinda high on imdb, films rarely ever get to the 9s on there. But yeah I don't remember Arrival being massively overhyped, it was more of the quiet "oh that was actually rather good" type of feedback rather than like a Nolan film which has to be declared as the greatest thing ever.
@Ramble Are you sure you’re not thinking of Rami’s Crime Wave which they wrote? It was a big flop but because it was such a flop he quickly made Evil Dead 2 to bounce back so it all works out. *edit just googled it, Joel was an assistant editor on Evil Dead apparently which is where they met.
I liked A Simple Plan, it kinda reminded me of a blending of Fargo and Shallow Grave.

Listen, I geddit, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no one's wrong, no one's right, yadda yadda...
But how on heavenly hamburgers can you list Pitch Perfect 2 & 3, but not the original Pitch Perfect?!! Have you not seen it?!! 2 & 3 don't come close to being as good IMO.
Similarly, Bad Boys For Lif3? It was alright, but not a patch on 1 & 2 for me.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I know I'm technically an old guy now, and my move into gaming as my default entertainment source coincided with paying less attention to film, but it baffles me how many film titles I don't even recognise in this thread. I don't think I'd even heard of Dazed and Confused, certainly never seen anything of it, but it sounds like I should give it a go sometime (even if the trailer doesn't particularly draw me in).
