Soulcalibur IV.

I quit playing online shortly after I started. The community was quite rude, and hosts kept on kicking me out of rooms for no good reason.

  • They wanted to play with their friends, & were kicking out anyone they didn't know (this one's understandable).
  • If I was using a created character, they would think it's dumb (and let me know about it), and kick me out once the match was over.
  • They'd kick me out because I hadn't mastered the character I was using. I usually use more basic moves (although I never spammed a single move), and it would upset them if I actually did well or beat them, because they were trying way too hard to pull off all the flashy stuff.

I'm not saying every match up was a dud, but the only hosts that would keep me around, were the ones who could actually do all the fancy stuff, and soundly trash me (which isn't all that fun either, but is still better because you can learn from good players).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Playing Street Fighter (3DS) online with people who just spam one move over and over again (and who are clearly not even executing it properly, they're just using those touchscreen shortcuts, which I know you can avoid, but it takes so much longer to find opponents that way).

Too many griefers running around on free roam. Being new to the online mode didn't help since my weapons weren't very strong, I can deal with know it alls that think I'm a noob that never played the game before but having people follow you around and ganging up on you is annoying. I've also had people try to kick me for doing really good which is funny since I died as much as them.

I'm not very good at remembering long combos so I don't usually play fighters aside from SoulCalibur since its still fun even without the flashy moves.

I do shoot a lot of level 30 players, and most of them end up getting 50+ deaths, and hardly any kills.

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers........SEGA......Virtual Console......online enabled.

I don't know what it was about it. Fighting random people online is cool but it would be nice to know who they were and if it kept permanent Win/Loss records. (The only time you know who you are fighting is if it's a registered friend on your friend list)

The best time I had with the game was when I battled @DonJumpMad.

I hated it to. I LOVED the game, but online play was so not needed or any good.

World of Warcraft back in the day. There were always people who would enter a high-level area with their level 60 (max level) and run around killing people for fun.

However, I remember one instance where it went on for an hour or so. This person would kill me with one or two hits, after which I'd have to spend 5 minutes walking back to my corpse, revive, and be killed again straight away. I seem to remember him either hiding or making himself invisible too, so I would revive thinking he had left, after which he'd appear and kill me again.

This went on for ages (in hindsight, I don't know why I kept at it for so long) and in the end I just had to quit. I was about to throw my monitor on the floor...

I think that's the worst part of anonymity online. People feel free to do stuff like that because there are zero ramifications. Generally my online experiences are good ones (for example, the Australian Team Fortress 2 community is fantastic) but those really bad ones stick in my mind, unfortunately!

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

In Mario Kart when people select the same course that we've just been on (especially when it's Rainbow bloody Road).

Thats why I play on a PvE server instead of a PvP one.

Since I do tend to play alot of PC games online (mainly mmo) I can probably come up with a huge list but the one thing that bugs me most is when someone rage quits in the middle of something because they are losing. Whether it be a dungeon in World of Warcraft or playing a team game in GoldenEye on the Wii and the host rage quits. That always irks me. Honestly I dont understand whats so bad about losing.

In MK7 it used to be Maka Wuhu all the time... I've probably played Maka Wuhu more online that all the other courses put together.

Ha! Yes, I noticed Maka Wuhu was particularly popular as well (though to be fair, I always seemed to do quite well on that course so I didn't mind so much...) But whenever I've played Mario Kart online there's a group of people who select Rainbow Road every single time regardless of how often we've already been on it.

Any CoD game where you have a bunch of screaming kids. Probably really why I don't play CoD online anymore cause there's just so damn many or if you have some 14 year old try to tell you that you suck and all I can say is 'sorry I'm a 26 year old man with responsibilities and don't have the time to play that a boy does'

What platform do you play on? I've found that there are very few obnoxious people on PC, which I thought was odd considering how ubiquitous it sounds from the way people talk about it. (I've played CoD1, CoD:MW and CoD:MW2 online quite extensively) I don't know if that's a PC thing or an Australian thing.

Playing Left for Dead (for whatever reason it's nowhere near as bad on L4D 2) on the PC. So many racists.
