As fast as the cell phone market moves I think this is a smart move. Any given phone has a one year shelf. That would turn into a big headache for a company that is used to taking years before the revise.
Another huge reason this is a bad idea is because Nintendo failed hard on DSiWare and WiiWare. There is no way they could keep up with Apple's app. market. Hell even the Droid market has the beat.
Also, letting Sony and Microsoft go out and flop first would be a valuable learning tool, if they ever do decide to take they plunge.
BTW, me and my brother share this Account, so please forgive him if he dose something... annoying.
No deal. If this account is responsible for any violations of the site's guidelines, it'll be dealt with accordingly. Rather than telling us to ignore your brother's presumably guideliness-violating antics, it would be far more productive of you to tell him to behave.

This statement is so optimistic. But yeah, Nintendo is already successful with the video game market. I don't see any reason why they should branch out

You don't just "make" a phone. You need to either set your R & D team to build the technology internally (and insanely expensive process if you're not already in the market), or you acquire a phone company (Which is what Sony did with Ericcson to get its foot in the phone door).
The only phone maker that is even close to being on the market is Nokia, and that would be an insanely expensive acquisition for Nintendo. Nintendo's own R & D team is busy working on the next generations of hardware.
Nintendo simply doesn't have the capabilities to make a phone.

I've been pretty happy with my WinPho7 Samsung Focus and its XBox live integration so far. There are definately some improvements to be made, but I'm happy nonetheless. Sony's Xperia seems intriguing and it appears to be a "better" gaming device so I'd have to say I'm cautiously optimistic about their endeavor as well.

Now Nokia is teaming with Micosoft to collaborate with WinPho7 Devices so that puts them even less on the market. But who really knows these days: Sometimes EVERYONE is for sale and there is a lot of cash burning holes in companies pockets at the moment.
