So I was buying the Chris Nolan Director box set on amazon and looking at the Marvel Phase one box set and wondered why game companies don't do.
Like a big box set from square with 13 discs for each mainline di al fantasy. On the disc joule be the game as well as interviews with the crew of the game and other supplement material. One could do it with a number of series.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
It does get done on a smaller scale on rare occasions. However, it never seems to include more than 2 or 3 games, and I've really on seen it happen on PC (see my next point).
It'd be really nice, but I guess the main problem is that a box set of a big series would span many different systems, and that relies on either people owning all the relevant systems (even ones that may be long out of production) or spending time and resources updating/emulating games on a current gen system. As @Lz said, that would lead to exorbitant prices for a decent box set.
Having said that, it's certainly something I'd like to see!
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
Doesnt Rockstar do that with GTA games? Didn't Konami just bring out a Metal Gear box set? What about the Orange Box a few years ago? They have been sets but as Wheels said some of the series span different systems and sometimes they have in contract that that game will only be for that system resulting in a high price point that most consumers wont pay.

Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@Sony_70: Ah gotcha that is a good question. Of course I have only heard of them doing that for special occasions like the SMA Wii Disc and sound track.

Remember the zillions of PS2 box sets at the end of its life? And the PSP and PS3 double packs? Yes, there was no supplimentary material, but unlike movies, Games don't have tons of empty space on the discs for that stuff, not to mention most people don't care about that stuff anyways.
