Agreed. Although he didn't voice him in any of the video games, he was the first and best voice of Sonic from his performances in Sonic's multiple early 90's cartoon series.

Jaleel White or Ryan Drummond. Both of them I grew up on; for the former I watched a lot of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, (Saturday morning) Sonic the Hedgehog, and even Sonic Underground; as for the latter, I played a lot of Sonic Adventure.

But Jaleel White's voice fit Classic Sonic. It wouldn't be the same for Modern Sonic.

Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic are 2 versions of the same character, but they have different personalities and playstyles. Same with Dr. Robotnik and Eggman. For example, I felt that Modern Sonic looked very out of place in Sonic 4 - Episode 1. Hopefully Episode 2 will let us play as Classic Sonic.
