The most hyped I've been for a new game?
Easy.
Cyberpunk 2077's re-unveiling at E3 2018
The Halo Infinite E3 2019 trailer, the FFVII Remake announcement from E3 2015 and The Last of Us Part II's announcement from PSX 2016 are definitely honorable mentions

The most hyped i've ever been was for Mario Bros. 3 after seeing it in the movie The Wizard. I have very early memories of my little brother and i going to see it. I probably remember it because months later my brother and i got to play it together instead of going to school. Oh yea we missed school because our parents took us to a chicken pox party. That would be a party you take kids to so they go ahead and get chicken pox over with. That's probably child cruelty now a days.

@ThanosReXXX I never meant to imply the final product was bad, it was still enjoyable. My expectations (which they set) were just let down, that's all.

I obviously don't mean the internet is or just gives you undeniable truths, since for one you can always find arguments for both sides, but I'm sure you would be smart enough to assess yourself which things are valid and make sense and which don't.

@Monkeido I guess one could get upset by things like that, but I simply never do. I wasn't upset by toon Link, and I'm also never upset about final products looking a bit different from their initial promotional and/or reveal material. Well, unless it's VASTLY different and inferior, of course. In that case, even I will be disappointed.

In general, though, I always take into account that the initial reveal is never the end product, and as such, a lot of things can change, either for better or for worse, but as long as it's within a certain ballpark, then I'm okay with it.

@ThanosReXXX Definitely a healthy way to think. I wasn't upset either, just disappointed it wasn't closer to what they initially showed. And for me the difference was big enough, but that's of course just my opinion.

I do agree I don't mind some graphical downgrades and what-not after the initial reveal, but I guess my ballpark is just smaller than yours.

EDIT: To be more on-topic, one game I was really hyped for as well was Half-Life 2 and that one definitely lived up to the hype for me! Too bad that it's very likely they'll never finish the story. >,<

@Monkeido That was a good game indeed, but I didn't have any initial reveal or release hype for it, because I only got acquainted with it pretty late in its existence, by means of The Orange Box on Xbox 360. Still a pretty good game, though.

Honestly outside of Smash Bros, Yoshi's Wooly World. I wasn't even remotely excited for Crafted World and have yet to play through it. Yoshi's Wooly World came out when I was in an extremely rough patch in my life.

I was just starting college paid off my first semester of school on my Bob Evans wage while living at home. I broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years, I really cared about her but we weren't compatible. My parents started treating me horribly, getting to the point where they would call me at school to curse me out when I let our inside/outside cat inside (I know you read that right). I was kicked out 4 months later upon the completion of my first year of college with $200 to my name. All because I worked 32 hours a week, went to college fulltime, and my parents wouldn't let my new girlfriend (which is now my wife) over since they were so hung up on my last girlfriend. They chalked this up to me not wanting to be home and proceeded to kick me out. I lived in my car for a bit, eventually got my own apartment.

Yoshi's Wooly World was an escape into a magical land of rainbows and color. The whole atmosphere I was able to escape in. The platforming, the puzzles, the amiibos everything about this game just removed the whole "your life sucks" thing. Arguably the most charming and uniquely styled game came out when I was at the lowest part of my life and I will always fondly remember that game.

I remember back in the day, I was really looking forward to jet force gemini. It also didn't disappoint.

Pikmin 2 ranks high up as well. Where is pikmin 4?!

Had to be viewtiful joe on gamecube. I bought it and it was very repetitive after a week . When I was buying it there was two different ones, one with an orange cover and one with a dark red cover, ( I bought the orange cover first it was โ‚ฌ30 ) fella in the shop just said they were just collectors items. then I went back to buy the red cover it was โ‚ฌ200 . What a game I played it for 2 months.

Tekken 7's third season if I'm honest. Probably not a good answer but Tekken 7 is such a perfect multiplayer experience that I think I can confidently say on behalf of the T7 community at large Namco's decision to stick with this game for another season was the best move they could have possibly made. I'm absolutely excited to see what Namco do with Tekken 8 or whatever comes next but I'd honestly be surprised if this isn't the pinnacle of the series.

Got a few. First one that popped up, though, was Syndicate on the Amiga. There are a number of things to bear in mind, here. First, Peter Molyneux was involved, so it's not hard to imagine the ridiculous promises and boasts that were circulating in the gaming magazines. Second, this was only 1993, pre-internet and before the gaming community had cottoned on to the fact that Molyneux consistenly overpromises and underdelivers. Nevertheless, I swallowed the hype whole, scouring the pages of Amiga Action, Amiga Power and whatever else I could find, before plucking up the courage to send a cheque (remember those?) to a mail-order company (remember those?) in the classifieds section of one of those aforementioned magazines.

The package finally arrived about three or four weeks later - this Amazon generation doesn't know about the agony of waiting! - and I tore open the bubblewrap envelope and to get at the big cardboard box containing four (if memory serves) flimsy floppy discs. I had about 15 minutes before needing to leave for school, but dammit, I made sure I saw those CGI animations and played that first mission, revelling in the sound and recoil of the shotgun...

Great game. Molyneux actually delivered on that one.

Oh, and @Chunkboi79 - I loved your story, though it must have been an absolute nightmare at the time.
