I would just show that amazing graphics doesn't mean everything. Its all about the story and gameplay. There's this weird thing growing in the gaming industry that a game must need gorgeous graphics to become noteworthy and attention-seeking. I laugh at that. A gorgeous game could just be that. A gorgeous game with no depth, no good gameplay and no story.

One big flaw, those great games which do this ... also do not sell. Sales on some of the best games are horrible, while games with fabulous graphics, and no story, make the most money. That's what I would change, players would stop wanting the next best thing, and instead want games.
Friend list is full, I will be clearing room for Bravely Default soon though. Colors! 3D Gallery, My Blog
NNID: KittenKoder ..... what else would it be?
I'd like for games to go back to the "game"-like game philosophy, character designs, & art directions of the 90's - early 00's, while keeping modern graphical fidelity & gameplay innovations.
I guess that's why I like smaller devs & indies so much.
Also, I'd like for Japanese devs to regain dominance over the market again. I'm not going to say that the likes of Mass Effect, Skyrim, God of War & Uncharted are bad (because they're not, and admittedly, I'd like to try GoW), but I think games like Monster Hunter, Tales of, Ninja Gaiden, & anything by Suda 51would be more to my tastes, and look to have better character & art direction (IMO).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
A few things. I wish there were no fanboys for a start. We all love the same thing - video games - why does there have to be fighting over different platforms? It's embarrassing being a gaming fan sometimes!
I also wish more developers would embrace the things that make video games special. I'm sick of games taking control of a character half way through a level to help tell a story. Games like Super Metroid have barely any story at all; and yet Super Metroid tells a fantastic story - through it's gameplay and its atmosphere - and the fact that it lets you fill in the gaps and interpret it your way is liberating. Developers should tell their stories through gameplay (which is unique to video games), instead of over-long cut scenes and boring, robotic acting.
Modern video games need to be more challenging and not rely on things like auto aim to allow the player to get away with things.
I'm sick of seeing drab backgrounds with nothing but brown and grey. That needs to stop. Same thing with the lead character have dark hair and stubble. That needs to go away for a while too.
Budgets need to go down considerably. Enough of this cloud nonsense and emphasis on AAA voice acting and ultra realistic 4K HD graphics. A game shouldn't have to sell in the billions to justify whether or not there will be more like it.
F2P needs to be done in a fair and reasonable manner. If it gives an advantage to players not willing to put in the time to master the game, then it needs to go. Microtransactions should not give players a heads up over the rest of us who are playing to earn things.
I'd choose fantasy over realism. Developers have the ability to create vast, unique worlds based soley on their imagination.
Gameplay over story.
If I was up on top, I'd send FPS and gang simulators crashing down. And the aspect I would focus on most is creating wonderful games, that work 100% the day they come out that everyone in the world could sit down and enjoy, but take a lifetime to master.
The fall of NEC and SEGA as hardware manufacturers, and MS's place in the console market. DLC, DRM, Free-to-play, half-broken games with huge day 1 patches (No internet connection, you're out of luck), paid online pay, free-to-play games, yearly sports game releases, revive Mega Man Legends 3, give Call of Duty a well deserved vacation (And most military shooters for that matter) end, downgrade console model "revisions" (Looking at you, Vita revision), Jak II, make all systems backwards compatible, proprietary accessories (Looking at Vita again), digital prices being 3x as physical prices (On consoles, anyways), Lack of original voice tracks, region-lock, crummy d-pads on controllers (360, grrrrrr...), bring back real manuals, stop highlighting indie games just because they are indie games (Nothing against good Indie games, don't get me wrong!), give the Mario series a break, make a new F-Zero game, world domination of the Vectrex, Make certain companies localize games better (Looking at NoA and SEGA in particular), stop licensed games meeting the standards set by E.T., stop making games "Appeal to the masses" (Call me an elitist, just an opinion), end all fitness games, end gimmicky motion control games, re-release some of the SEGA Saturn games, make more Wild Arms games.
I'd make over the top serious storylines a little more lighthearted and funny <<< I know it's lame but it's the way I like things!
add a special option to all racing games to turn down the graphics enough to play at least 3 times faster(with a few exceptions like F-Zero) I'm tired of slow-go racing games, if I want to race I want to go FAST really FAST.but like I said just an option not forcing anyone to use the feature...

I'd change how few decent 3D platformers there are now. The 2D platformer 'revival' thing is getting kind of old, where's my Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie gameplay revival?
I'd change the fact that most licensed games are below-average.
That too. So many great games... that could have been in existence had licensed games generally been great instead of crap. Tons of franchises basically shout 'this would be awesome as a video game', then they get handed to some lazy idiots and end up as shovelware in the bargain bin.

yeah that's true, now the controllers are much better for 3D platformers they should use the potential!
