Pokemon red when I was 14, the year it was released. I've been fairly disappointed in the latest installments and their lack of any type of change in the whole game. But, I have Y preordered and i'm very much looking forward to it and all of the new ways to play this upcoming pokemon adventure! My son is getting X, so that we can trade the exclusives.
Around 2006, my aunt( a strict teacher) took away some kids Pokemon Crystal game that he'd brought to school. She ended up giving it to my sister, along with a GBC previously owned by my aunt. My sister wouldn't let me play it, and it just seemed so much fun. Then I bought Pokemon Emerald just for me, and now it's my favorite Pokemon game that I own. There better be a remake on 3DS.
@AeroTech i've never played pokemon Crystal or Emerald.
You should give them a try. Heartgold/Soulsilver are easier to get than Crystal, and are essentially the same thing. Emerald is harder to get a hold of, so try online retailers or your local used video game store.

Buffalo wings are a gift from the gods themselves.
@AeroTech well i've played both heartgold and soulsilver so i guess i shouldn't bother getting Cryatal or Emerald! i almost bought sapphire, but passed. I still regret that decision.
@feline2 that's not true. I was at target and they had at least 5 copies of soulsilver. I also called Gamestop and they had 5 copies of heartgold and 6 copies of soulsilver at one location. This was all within the last 6 months. plus, I live in Arizona: a land where pokemon isn't that popular.
just 2 months ago i picked up my first pokemon game; pokemon red.
fire red or first red
first red for Gameboy. i played it, upgraded my pokemon a TON, got really far in the game, then i let my great-great-great grandkids play because they'd never played pokemon either, and now all my progress is gone. i'm thinking about giving it to them since they've already soiled my data not bummed out about losing my progress though, i'll just get another copy. (oh, and a lot of people really like leaf green. i watched a lets play of it, but the sound was just so fuzzy and chippy. it was just painful to listen to, imo. )
@KAHN really i sorta like the music it was not the best but it seemed ok for gba. was it the lets play
i don't know, i really liked the first game, so i'm willing to give it a shot. dont have much money now, and it's not on top of my "games to get" list, so it'll have to wait, unfortunately.
@feline2 12!? the only place i get streetpasses are at gamestop from the workers, and target with the 3ds that they let people play with. I've never got one while driving, and traffic jams frequently happen. You're very lucky. Where i live, people who use nintendo products are made fun of. xbox 360's and playstation 3's are what the majority of people use.
