Just beat the original final boss of Persona 5. However, I made sure to take care of the needed confidants to unlock the third semester, so my game is far from over.

But man, I gotta say, for as large of a game as it is, I think it "ended" really well. It is kind of a standard JRPG trope of "kill god" as the final boss, but I do think the story earns it this time around. If the game would have ended here, I definitely would have been satisfied. But I'm certainly not complaining about extra content in the third semester. So far the story's been very intriguing.

@StarPoint wow, you are playing much faster than I am! I think I started the game around the same time as you (late December) and I’m at the fifth palace

@SplatRay001 Yeah it has completely hooked me. I’ve hardly played anything else since I started in December besides the Apollo Justice Trilogy.

@StarPoint I completely understand, the structure of the game is super engrossing. “Just one more day” I’ll tell myself, and before I know it a full in game week has passed! What would you say is your favourite confidant? I’ve personally enjoyed the Councilor confidant the most

@SplatRay001 For me, probably either Confidant or Hierophant. Both have a lot of SP benefits which is super useful.

@StarPoint in terms of gameplay Temperance and Fortune are easily the best, they make it so much easier to max out everyone

@Tasuki I never finished 3D world, but I did finish 3D land which I enjoyed, in spite of its lack of challenge compared to other entries

Started up Yakuza Like a Dragon last night on the Series X. Made it through the prologue if you want to call it that. So far enjoying the story and the updated RPG battle mechanics are better then I thought they would be. Going from an action type system to the RPG I didn't know what to think before I played it and was kinda worried it would mess with the flow of the game.

Can't wait to jump back into it tonight after work.

Trying to clear some games off my backlog. Lately I've jumped back into Tears of the Kingdom, which I've had since release but not finished. Just the final fight to go, but... I'm having too much fun exploring (love the hoverbike build!) and going after mini bosses. Even the Gleeoks, which I never thought I'd want to face after my first time running into one.

Hoping I can get everything I want done and finish the game before FFVII Rebirth comes out.

Forever juggling half a dozen games across four different platforms. Sometimes I actually finish one.

Was in the mood for Apex Legends lately, honestly, I'm thankful for the mixtape mode. Last few times I've played the battle royale mode, it just felt stale and just wasn't having fun with it like I use to. All I do is land, loot up, run around, either eliminating other players or being eliminated and starting at square one.

Yet, mixtape mode rotates between Team Deathmatch, Control, and Gun Run, and I like it. I don't have to stress about surviving and can chill and have fun. I just hope Respawn keeps it because after they got rid of arenas after promising it was "permanent," I do not trust them.

Also, played some Quake II recently, really love how it runs on Switch (I have this on PC, the remaster was a free update to those who had Quake II on GOG). Also Mortal Kombat II on PC for some classic fighting action, and started the new season of Disney Speedstorm.

Been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Got back into the game after transferring my island to my Switch OLED, and I've also been getting more progress into Happy Home Paradise. Haven't been playing HHP as often as I should, so I'd like to change that and finish it.

Also been playing Metroid Prime Remastered. I did get a lot of progress in, but right now I'm in a really brutal boss fight. I do pretty much know what to do, so hopefully I'll beat it next time.

Edit: Started playing Splatoon 3 and I picked Friday as my Splatfest team.

Got to Chapter 3 in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I am enjoying the characters alot. Also got a chance to really explore the town played a few rounds of Outrun at the local arcade which was cool. Going to an RPG battle worked well for the series. I can't say whether I liked the original action combat style in the original series or the RPG system that they have now but it works. Looking forward to playing another hour or two tonight before bed.

Splatoon 3. Once I finish with "Tears of the Kingdom" (which is at the end of February, gonna make it so that Ganondorf regains his strength at that time, giving myself a time limit to get all the non-final boss story quests and shrines done AND fully upgrade my Hylian armor, like when I did the same for "Breath of the Wild"), I'll start that game's story mode.

A few new starts over the weekend as I finished Gears of War on Xbox. Haven't really bought anything recent lately so delving into the backlog for these:

Castle Shikigami 2 Digital PS2 (on PS3). I'm really liking this classic shmup - might even consider getting the Switch re-release for TATE mode and the updated modes etc. at some point. I've only played through the easy mode so far because despite really liking the genre, I'm terrible at them!

Garou: Mark of the Wolves Xbox. Not a huge fan of fighting games to be honest - mainly because I haven't got the time to learn them properly anymore, but got this free on Xbox Live a while ago and it's supposed to be one of the best in the Fatal Fury series, so thought I'd give it a go. Seems decent enough thus far.

Castle of Illusion Starring Micky Mouse Game Gear (on Analogue Pocket). Pretty enjoyable retro platformer. Taking me a while to get used to the controls though - my muscle-memory keeps wanting to just jump on heads Mario-style to defeat enemies, but it needs an additional button press to 'crouch' while jumping. Lost count of the number of times I've died due to this...

Might start one of the TMNT games from the Cowabunga Collection on Switch soon too. Maybe start with the original Arcade game and see how that holds up.

More Mortal Kombat II today, specifically the arcade version in Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection on Steam. I usually play the MK games on very easy, the GOG version of Mortal Kombat II, a DOS port, vs. the arcade original is like a day/night difference in terms of difficulty. I usually play the GOG version normally.

My understanding the arcade original is hard to keep players pumping coins into the machine. Arcade Kollection I can do decently during the first few fights, and the game gets super hard to the point where the CPU cheats (yes, I've seen a video talking about this subject too). Yet, on the DOS version GOG has, the difficulty stays consistent with what I choose up until Kintaro.

I have to ask, was the CPU any different on the console versions back in the day? I never played the SNES one, and the one time I did play Genesis was in two player mode with other kids in the neighborhood when I was a kid. I use to have the Game Boy version, but it's not a port of the arcade game, just its own version.

I may be absolutely terrible at it (as I am with most brutally difficult run-n-guns honestly XD) but man the spritework, the music, the animation, the movement, the speed, the weapon selection, THE BOSSES OH MY GOD THE BOSSES; they're all just so finely crafted to the point of perfect precision. Currently about to enter Stage 6 and beyond, god this game is so damn cool man 🥰

Got a bit further in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I suffered my first defeat just a random group of things who overpowered us, and that was before I found out you can put your money in an atm so I lost quite a bit.

Story wise I just got a job at the "bath house" and now I have to find out some info on one of their girls.
