I don't understand why people say Toads are genderless. I assumed maybe Yoshis might be but certain Yoshi characters clearly have masculine traits, like Boshi.

and then Toad and Toadette, and the Toads in Mario RPG clearly indicate there are male and females.

Well, according to Nintendo Toads are all genderless and born equal.

Some just decide later on that they want to look female.

Okay there lots of explanations for the Toad syndrome. The main reason is that most of the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom was transformed into Bricks, Power-ups, and Monsters. When the magic was dispelled those who wanted to stay that way did so. Just to understand the original Mario logic.

The bigger question is "Where did the Koopas came from?" It is explained that "Dinosaur Island" is where they originated from.....okay this is starting to sound silly,

Look they are all characters from fairy tales from Japanese folklore as well as common things from our world. Miyamoto himself plays the Banjo, likes sloving puzzles, originally is an architectural drafter, and can not play Mario 64 for his life. His children are also studying graphic design he mentions.

It is obvious that Miyamoto is not an gamer at all and doing so would be destructive to his life. I mean seriously, Jumpman is an construction worker, and Koopa creatures are just an bunch of Kappas.

Look up the names and there meanings and you will see they come together.

As far as I know, the Koopas are just turtles.

Their English name "Koopas" comes from Bowsers Japanese name Kuppa, which comes from a Korean food.

In Japanese they're usually just called... Turtles.

Kappas are turtle-like too, but they have key attributes that the Koopas don't.

That sad part about is the entire western ( at least US audience ) reference it belonging to "Koopa" which in fact is the name of various Sports Athletes, and last sur-names.

They should do? Make Peach give birth to more koopas. So we can finally have better Mario games.

Some random dude on Nintendo Life.
Toriel left for a while, so Freaky Fred took over her place!
Not changing this part of the signature until Nintendo announces Super Mario Sunshine 2.
