Wario Land is great, but Nintendo is producing far too many 2D platformers as it is, and WarioWare is one of Nintendo's more out-of-the-box IPs that toys with concepts that take advantage of whatever hardware the software has been designed for.
As a diehard fan, Gold was tremendously disappointing precisely because it served up most of the same activities that we had been stuck with for the last 10 years. I enjoyed it and unlocked everything, but I can't see myself returning to it any time soon.
I was hoping for a MotionPlus WarioWare game on Wii or Wii U and we never got one.
I was hoping for one that took advantage of the 3DS's stereoscopic 3D. We never got that either.
But they serve up a 2D-only "best of" collection...
Unless Gold was leading up to a Switch game (and judging by predictably poor sales, I sadly doubt that this is the case), I fear that WarioWare shall lay dormant for a while yet.
At this point, I would be content with a port of Smooth Moves, which is perhaps the finest and most fun game in the series, especially with its very original (and hilarious) multiplayer modes.
