Anyone here into urban exploration?
Urban Exploration is a hobby I recently got into that involves finding and exploring abandoned and derelict buildings.
So far I've found a massive abandoned texture mill/factory complex, an old youth hostel, a retired insane asylum and tomorrow I'll be heading out to check out this abandoned secondary school.

Here are some pictures I've taken, they're not the greatest quality as it's just from my mobile phone camera but it gives you an idea of the kind of places I've been exploring. I hope to go and get some decent pictures with a better camera once I acquire one.

Anyone else have any experience of exploring places like these?

I live in Detroit. Walking down the street is urban exploring.

I co-host a podcast about professional wrestling titled Blind Tag and I write/draw a daily webcomic about a werewolf in high school named Duane.

I got into urban exploration a few years ago and found out quite a bit about the history of my area that was previously unknown

Google can be your friend, there are plenty of urban exploration forums. Or just try stuff like 'urban exploration (your town name)" or "derelict buildings (your town name)" etc

Going to go take pictures of a couple centuries old factory complex. Abandoned in 2004. Should be fun.

You should go inside and explore thoroughly. Find haunted areas too.

Sorry but this sounds incredibly stupid and dangerous to me. Some unstable flooring or walling could fall apart and you could get seriously injured and stranded where no one could find you. You could also get assaulted by homeless people or drug addicts. Not to mention it's trespassing and you could get arrested.

If you are going to do it at least use the buddy system.

@JayArr: Teddy Roosevelt actually addressed both potential problems you mentioned there (the instability of the infrastructure and the threat of attack by wild hobos). This hobby sounds fun, and I'm thinking I might look into it, but I'll be taking Teddy's words to heart, for sure.
