You don't have to be into it, but I'll summarize how I started, in case your curious? But if you're totally over Rocket League, no biggie. Don't sweat it, you don't have to reply.
You can actually get pretty far in the game without mechanics. I didn't start to get OK at the game until I watched some youtubers like SpookLuke, or Wayton Pilken, CBell, etc., for basic strategies for defense (far post rotation), and good placement & spacing on the field for defense vs offense. And using training packs to help with your shooting accuracy or ball handling. And.. playing 1v1 against AI in Exhibition mode can really help you get more proficient with getting the ball down the field to the goal.
If you play casual, you'll always get mixed matchups with some experienced players peppered in, but the skill level on each team should be mirrored, like one experience player per team, or one newb per team. Competitive ranked mode is where you should play if you want if you only want to play against people with similar skill level. Although, occasionally some people play on secondary accounts so they can be OP (aka smurfing), which can harm matching, but ranked is still the most equal matching system.
The default camera settings aren't great. Changing them can help. Also turn OFF weather effects & camera shake. Turn ON transparent goal posts.
Genshin impact is not a rip off BOTW, in fact the only thing they share is climbing, other then that the world is just inspired by botw. Before I played it I thought that too, but it’s similarity’s die really fast, around the 2nd part of the game, it stops feeling like botw.
@Snatcher People are really quick to lump games into being BotW clones. I played Genshin Impact for a while and enjoyed it, but it is nothing like BotW. I didn't even feel like the look was similar enough to warrant calling it thatm unless we're calling everything cartoony as BotW clones.
I recently finished Fenyx Rising, another one lumped into the BotW clone category. While it shared some similarities, it felt very much like it's own thing (and even did some things better).
I think it's just the look that makes people do that and I find it so bizarre. BotW was far from the first nor even the best (though it is indeed great), but why BotW became the de facto base that every open world game is ripping off is bizarre to me. There's so many that came before, that even BotW has borrowed from. We were playing open world games long before BotW was even a gleam in Nintendos eye.
CEO of 2K should be fired for keep being jerk in BS business practice and micro transactions should be considered as illegal business practice and violating the law. Save the gaming industry from those greedy heartless business peoples.
@Cotillion Literally go look at the botw rip off article, and you will see three people comparing it, the game isn’t even trying to be botw at this point. It really makes me think that people saw one image, decided it’s botw, and they will die on that hill, like I said, maybe before, but that’s definitely not the case now, not everything that’s open world is a botw clone.
Did botw start a trend? Yes, do people use botw like mechanics in there games a lot? Yes, but that does not mean that every game like it is a rip off, I don’t even think the people using that word for Genshin even know what that means. Saying it’s a rip off is implying that the game stole many mechanics from botw, and has no work or effort put into it, but that’s just not true. It’s just inspired, not a rip off.
And for anyone who think it is, please share to me why you think so, not just saying it’s a rip off, tell me why, because just saying they’re similar is not enough to call it a rip off.
Also I want to say that in beta it did act awfully close to botw, ok, I will give them that, I’m not even saying that it wasn’t a rip off at one point, but now, I wouldn’t say it is.

The newest zelda game articles just really disturbing me.
Being too popular like that just made me even more disturbed.
3rd party kids games are waaaaay.... more fun to play than that zelda game.
@Anti-Matter Just out of curiosity, if there was a Switch port of Imagine Party Babyz with 96 on Metacritic, everyone was playing it and the front page was full of Imagine Party Babyz articles, would you find that disturbing as well?
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Dogorilla
Of course not since Imagine Babyz games are something I want to discuss about. 😊
When my favorite things get popularized (DDR, Imagine games, 1-2-Switch, ARMS,etc), I will get into them. 😁
Also, there was actually a similar game like Imagine Babyz by Microids with name My Universe: My Baby with gameplay pretty similar as Imagine Babyz.
Microids is the savior of old IP to modern consoles. 😊
@Anti-Matter Fair enough, I hope one day you get the smash-hit baby game of your dreams. But in the meantime you might have to accept that a lot of us are really enjoying Zelda and it's popular for a reason!
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
Unpopular opinion. I don't want to play as Princess/Queen Zelda (beyond games like Hyrule Warriors), and yes I would like to play a different character than Link. Not because I don't love her but because it makes no sense lore wise. Unless you get a Zelda that is not aware she is the next in line to rule Hyrule (her parents are usually dead after all...her mom especially since the power of Hylia has to be passed on) most of them need to be protected because A) she is a glass cannon as the Goddess reborn, B) somebody has to rule Hyrule after Ganon is taken care of C) I feel like Nintendo would still turn her into DID fodder and I hate that.
I feel at this point Impa pretty much has been established to fill the role of female warrior as she usually even in games where she is old was/is a warrior/bodyguard. I would love to play a game where Link is MIA (perhaps in a coma like BOTW because he is part of the Trinity) and Impa does if not all of the work then most of it, like perhaps the old obligatory find 3 mcguffins in Zelda before you have to find 8 other mcguffins, make the first 3 Impa's job and then that somehow brings Link into the game and then allow you to switch between the two for the rest of the game. Basically I don't wanna play genderswapped Link or shoehorn the ruler and sealing power into a dangerous role because frankly If Ganon wanted to win he should just murder Zelda, because then he can't be sealed. (he can be "killed" but he seems to come back from that more quickly than sealing.) Link is the hammer, but Zelda is the Lock to Ganon's cage as it were.

The whole “30 FPS is unplayable” thing is honestly annoying. It’s like if a game isn’t 60 FPS in 4K and doesn’t have RTX then people think it’s instantly unplayable. If the game doesn’t suffer from frame rate drops then it’s perfectly fine.
@Diogmites You ok buddy? Like maybe you had something when it came to the characters,s but the whole series has bad music? And you think the reason for the bad music is to impress the fans? Wha the heck does that even mean? But you say whole series, but botw was, uh, very did different to the Zelda formula, so does botw count or?

@Greatluigi it's not that 30fps is "unplayable" it's that greatly diminishes the enjoyment of a game for many people. I suppose if you are a Switch only gamer it probably wouldn't be as noticeable, but dropping down from 60 or 120fps to 30 is jarring and completely ruins the experience - especially when the games can't even manage full HD either.
It's also annoying when people say that 30fps never used to be an issue, well neither did black and white TV but technology moves on and people adapt to the better services.
@Greatluigi Honestly, I never had issue with playing games at 30 FPS. There's lots of games I like that play at 30 FPS. 60 FPS is ideal will always be a better smoother experience, anything above that is bliss. I usually lock my PC's FPS to 60 by choice, and I do play Switch games that are 30FPS and still enjoy them.
Call it an unpopular opinion (fits this thread), I could never understand why some who complain about 30 FPS, still stick to console. Especially when PC is a perfectly good option for 60+ FPS.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
Nintendo should make a new traditional zelda after TOTK. the last one was 10 long years ago.
I'm loving totk, but 2 games like that is the amount I want, no more. 2d or 3d i dont care. (be amazing if grezzo reused their links awakening assets)
