I'll just stick to metal for this list, and it's going to have to be 5 of my top XX metal album, not necessarily the top 5. At least it's my favorite album of each artist listed.
Rust In Peace (Megadeth) Character (Dark Tranquillity) Blood Mountain (Mastodon) Darkness Descends (Dark Angel) Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil (Volbeat)
Revolver-The Beatles Destroyer-KISS Saints of Los Angeles-Motley Crue Killer-Alice Cooper Blizzard of Oz-Ozzy Osbourne
I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.
5. Either Dark Was the Night (Various Artists) or The Twilight Saga: New Moon (If only for Band of Skulls's Friends and Grizzly Bear with Victoria Legends's Slow Life) 4. Broken Bells - Broken Bells 3. The xx - The xx 2. The Boxer Rebellion - Union 1. Arcade Fire - Funeral (Btw, The Suburbs is shaping up to be epic)
1). Metallica- Metallica (The Black Album) 2). Master of Puppets - Metallica 3). The Wall - Pink Floyd 4). Bark at the Moon - Ozzy Osbourne 5). Adelitas Way - Adelitas Way

5 Jeff Buckley - Grace 4 Van Morrison - Astral Weeks 3 The Waterboys - Fisherman's Blues 2 Tom Waits - Frank's Wild Years 1 David Bowie - a pre-1980s album...it's a toss up for which one.
5. Versus the World - Amon Amarth 4. Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses - Slipknot 3. Black Sails At Midnight - Alestorm 2. Captain Morgan's Revenge - Alestorm 1. All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot
Still going through 40 years backlog of music, so it's mostly modern stuff:
Radiohead - OK Computer Arcade Fire - Funeral Muse - Origin Of Symmetry Queen - Night At The Opera Beatles - Revolver
And I could probably make list with 50 albums that deserve to be in the top 5; I want to mention Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Death Cab, Metric, Sigur Ros...
It'd be a lot easier to make a top 5 of stuff that came out this year instead: Foals, Blood Red Shoes, Broken Bells, Villagers, MGMT, Jonsi... shit that's six.
I saw Toby mac in concert like 5 years ago. I'm not a big fan of that genre of music. He put on a great show, but if I want something with some rap... I'll go Folk/Rap/Gospel with Paul Wright.
This is SO hard...but keep in mind this is favorite albums and not best 1. Abbey Road: The Beatles 2. In Rainbows: Radiohead 3. LCD Soundsystem: Sound of Silver 4. Viva la Vida: Coldplay 5. The Life Pursuit: Belle and Sebastian

You sir, have a fantastic taste in music. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who loved the new MGMT album

QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Same to you, good sir. Never gotten into LCD Soundsystem but Belle & Sebastian is one of my favourite bands. Love all the other stuff as well, obviously.
