1.) Sonic 2: Emerald Hill Zone - As far as actual musical notes and overall soundtrack, I find 'reploid factory' excelling in those two areas. The reason I picked 'Emerald Hill Zone' however is because the gameboy color version for 'reploid factory' is the lower sound quality version. Had it been the original quality I would've chosen the other no doubt without hesitation. But that's not to say I don't enjoy 'Emerald Hill Zone' because I do.
2.) DKCR: Jungle Hijinx - Pretty tough decision for me at first because both are great in their own completely different sounding ways. I love 'green greens' hectic harmonies melody but it ends to quickly. Jungle Hijinx on the other hand has such a great build up throughout and does not end/loop abruptly like 'green greens' but rather nearly 3 times as long with actual on going notes. Simply has more depth.
3.) SMG2: Sky Station Galaxy - I really do like the FFIIV song.....and I would like it more in orchestrated form but sadly it's not. Maybe than it would be a tough decision for me this round but in this format it's not.
@Tasuki
While that is a nice idea, not everyone here has a Backloggery account so i'm not sure that would work. This is a thread on NL so I think it should be kept open to anyone who wants to participate. If you really want the nominations to be anonymous, we could probably work something out, but for now I think it's fine the way it is.
I actually like the sort of background competition we have going on, since people really want others to like the song they nominated- since if someone nominated it they of course think its really good.
As long as we don't have people having a bad attitude about it, I think it's fine.
Understand. I just thought I would throw the idea out there. I for one am having a great time with this tournment, even though my songs got knocked out really quick, but hey thats the nature of these things someone has to lose right? Its also interesting to see everyone's unique tastes.

Or maybe you should just remove all names of the people who nominated the songs. These are contests between choosing the best songs - the person that nominated them deserves no credit. It really would remove a lot of the bias and unnecessary whining. People will disagree with me as some find it essential that they get their name mentioned on a topic on an internet forum - but honestly it would really make this easier.
@Geonjaha, sorry, when is the name of the nominator ever noted when we vote? I only see it when people say "oh I love this, which is why I nominated" or "my nomination lost" which is perfectly fine. We don't need to make this impersonal. There just needs to be a middle ground between good intentions and putting down others because they didn't agree with you (which didn't need someone to be defending their own nomination for that to happen in this thread so far).

The first post is what I was talking about.
The fact that the 'winner' is kept note of is much of the reason this happens in the first place.
There's a difference between making it impersonal, and removing the name of the guy who nominated a song on the winners board.
Just remove that, and it will stop a lot of the whining/fighting before it starts.
@Geonjaha, well that's the first time I've seen that.
I don't think it's that big of a deal though, honestly.
Me neither - which I why I think we might as well just remove it and see if things improve.
It's doing no good, and possibly causing problems.
It hardly makes sense to add names to a post about which songs the community thought were best when all that person did was post it first.
@Geonjaha
That was actually something that @TysonofTime requested after the last tournament. It's just a memento of sorts to past tournaments so I see nothing wrong with it as long as you remember that this isn't a competition. If you guys really want me to remove the names, then I will.
1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Emerald Hill Zone
Reploid Factory is an awesome song but it still can't beat the classic Emerald Hill Zone
2. Donkey Kong Country Returns - Jungle Hijinx
Green Greens is a great cheery song but not quite as good as Jungle Hijinx.
3. Sky Station Galaxy
Bombing Run is a very good moody first level theme but it can't beat the sweeping orchestra of Sky Station Galaxy
>_<
Seems my suggestion has led to some unwanted trouble...
Perhaps editing the first post to put more of a focus on the SONGS winning than the nominatiors? I mean, you can put something along the lines of
Winner:
Dark Pit's Theme, nominated by Emaan.
I dunno, that way it puts more of an emphasis on the song winning, but still shows the nominator, as a reminder of how the past tournaments were...
Honestly I'd be fine with taking the names of those who nominated the music down, but I'm not sure it would alleviate the problem. In my eyes, everyone has strong ties to their picks, and wants them to succeed, regardless of if their name is attributed to it. (Like my upset at you pairing my two nominations against each other @CapnPancakes > )

It's hard for newcomers to not see it as a competition when there's a hall of fame of sorts displaying the 'winners'.
I still think there would be more good in removing it than in letting it stay. The winners/would-be winners are probably the people who are going to disagree with me though. The people who's nominations won know who they are - as I said before, they hardly deserve a mention when all they did was nominate a song.
No, this wont necessarily solve the problem - but if it will help at least a bit what exactly is the harm?
This is at its core supposed to be a competition where the community decides what the best song is, and anything that gets rid of bias/fights/whining should (imo) be removed for the sake of it.
1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Emerald Hill Zone
A very iconic tune, almost as well-known as Green Hill.
2. Donkey Kong Country Returns - Jungle Hijinx
3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Sky Station Galaxy
All of the songs are alright though.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.
Retired Palutena Gem Provider. Mario Maker Levels
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 wins 10-3
Kirby's Dream Land wins 8-5
Super Mario Galaxy 2 wins 12-1
Just so you're all aware, the names have been removed from the original post. Honestly, i'm surprised anyone even noticed that in the first place. Anyway, enjoy today's selection of music. Here is a link to the current bracket
