There are a lot of different Tree design, either as motionless objects or living objects by different creativity.

The Yggdrasil Tree from EO4: Legends of the Titan. I could just list all the Yggdrasil Trees from the entire Etrian series but that's too easy.
1. It's freaking huge.
2. the fact it's seen & looming into the distance hints at something dark
3. It's just there.

I'm surprised no one bothered to include at least one from Etrian Odyssey...Crazy...P.S. the image should show...

If it were "What is the Best Tree in Gaming?" I would say the Maku Tree, no doubt. But, as the question is in relation to the most iconic tree, I must give my vote to either the Great Deku Tree or Whispy Woods. Both have been mentioned previously in the thread, so rather than waste your time rehashing the reasoning, I will simply urge you to glance back at their entries.

The Path of Exile Passive Skill Tree

My reasons:
1) It's gigantic and notoriously intimidating
2) Skill trees weren't barred from entry
3) I mean, look at it

My vote is still for The Mana Tree, but here is another honourable mention for me.
The Super Happy Tree! From Yoshi's Story. The whole game revolves around getting it back from Baby Bowser.
It has all different kinds of fruits growing from it! And, obviously, it makes the Yoshi's happy. That makes it pretty important 😊.

@1UP_MARIO Your post reminded me that the "green demon challenge" trees from Mario 64 are pretty iconic, to those who know their terror.

I just found out that trees are communicating with each other and stuff like that. They even take care of each other by giving nutrients. Now I can pet them without feeling weird. But it might be weird for them to be touched by a stranger lol.

My vote goes to the Mana tree. There is just something special about a goddess in the form of a giant, holy tree. So holy, so peaceful, so caring. Being a Mana knight and protecting her is surely very cool. Meditating and feeling her gentle and loving mind inside of yours would be really cool too.

@Hapless We need more candidates. So far the most popular choices are the Mana tree and Whispy Woods. I feel a few more trees in the running would make for a more interesting match.

@Hapless yeah it's too evergreen at the moment.

Wood Man from Mega Man 2:

Reasons:

1. He is definitely a tree. Just look at that green and brown!
2. His leaf Shield proves that Air Man is definitely beatable.
   3. Have you listen to his theme?

@konicstar Sorry, I'm gonna have to disqualify this pick. Wood Man is tree-themed but that does not make him a tree per se. He lacks the iconic tree qualities necessary to enter the running.

But you're not wrong about his level theme though. Banger.

Deku Tree and Whispy Woods have my vote for sure.

Iifa, the Ancient Tree of Life from Final Fantasy IX

Reasons:

• Super important to the story of the game
• notorious for fans thinking it's the "Lifa" tree rather than "iifa"
• Interesting and iconic design
• literally has an elevator inside of it
