Apparently, it's been said that these two are supposedly in the making after the Matrix Trilogy we saw before. Keanu Reeves said he may be appearing in the two sequels too. What are your opinions/expectations on them bringing the story back with these two sequels?

The first film was great. Seemed pretty fresh to me and vastly enjoyable. The sequels were dire. Confused claptrap that just didn't make any sense in my opinion. Watching the first film, I got the feeling that there had never been any intention to continue the story, it felt pretty self contained.
I can't see them being able to restore the magic of the original film.

Agreed with ImDiggerDan. The first was fantastic. 2 and 3 were uninspired at best and the many spinoffs did nothing for me. Let it die with some dignity, Wachowski Brothers.
The series just went in a downward spiral ever since it started. 1st was good, 2nd was okay and 3rd was a confusing mess of a movie. Why continue a series that just got worse with each sequel? What's next Robocop 4 or Jurassic park 4? Let it die and let's get some original ideas out of hollywood for a change.

It will be a giant fail, especially if it going to be in 3d. The last few stories made no sense. That said, for all the hate I throw at the sequels, whenever they are on TV I usually sit down and watch the fights and then surf the net while they talk about the incomprehensible ideas...
They should have stopped after the first (even though i own and pretty much enjoyed the sequels). It's painfully obvious that the story was never originally intended to continue after the first movie, but because of the crazy success it was, they tried to hamfist it into a trilogy.
I didn't think the Matrix's storyline was that confusing, tbh. I never saw any of the spin-offs, but I liked the original trilogy, so I'll keep an eye out for Matrix 4.
The original film was OK at best, the sequels were two of the worst films I've ever seen. Can't see 4 & 5 being an improvment. Still at least it'll keep Keanu in a job.
@WaveBoy Yeah, the appeal probably disappeared because of its disappointing sequels. When I first saw the original Matrix in the cinema I was floored and I like to hold on to that memory, for what it's worth.

I completely agree. I understood the entire thing and the action sequences were pretty awesome throughout. My favourite was actually the third movie. At the time, I would have loved to know more about what happened after, but it really is not necessary; at all. I would prefer it if they stopped where they are now. Although, some back-story might be neat.

@Ravage Some of the Animatrix shorts (most of which were quite good) dealt with the backstory of how the world got to where it is in the films, with the war between the humans and machines.

I know that, but a full movie would be cool. Besides, if they were to make another movie, I`m not sure what else they could do.

I loved one AND two. Two kept what I liked about the first and had cooler fights and the whole underground village place (the name escapes me) gave the whole thing a bigger feeling, with more at stake. Three was AWFUL, I agree with that. Half the movie was people shooting at robots, and the other half was rehashes of fights and ideas from the other movies and a MAJOR lackluster conclusion.
Personally, I'd like to see a collection of all the movies with re-done CGI (the only parts that look dated, everything else holds up so well it's sort of pathetic when you think about how old the movies are) and the third completely scrapped and re-done (it wouldn't even have to be live action, animation would be pretty sweet and less work and money).
