I just grabbed trinity trigger and metal gear solid collection both on discount through Amazon.

But I wanted to recommend Alwas Collection physical for switch through Amazon for only $15. 2 phenomenal games that really feel like NES games.

Persona 5 Tactica is $40 on Amazon. Well worth it as I'm playing it currently.

Dicey Dungeons is on sale for $2. I'm tempted at that price simply because NintendoLife reviewed it 9/10, although the words 'dice' and 'deck building' both tend to scare me away.

@FishyS Spotted that one in a recent browsing session as well (funnily enough it's actually an even better deal in EU as it's only €1.50 over here). While I can completely understand being turned off by it's structure (a problem I usually harbour towards SRPG's myself), as someone who's gotten REALLY into roguelikes these past couple years (poured countless hours into both Dead Cells and Slay the Spire and have Hades and Crypt of the NecroDancer chilling in the backlog), Dicey Dungeons sounds like something right up my alley

Both the original Yooka-Laylee + Yooka-Laylee & the Impossible Lair are currently on sale in all regions for only $7 combined ($4 and $3 respectively).

This is probably one of the best eShop deals in history and I feel like you should definitely consider grabbing them while you can, regardless of your thoughts on YL as a series

Especially the impossible lair. Probably the best non nintendo 2d platformer on the system

You made me think about all the 2D non-Nintendo platformers. 😝 I'm honestly not sure what my favorite is, but I'll happily throw Yooka in my top list alongside Celeste, Rayman, Gris, and Shovel Knight.

( for the sake of argument I am not counting mega man, rogue-likes, or Metroidvanias since I would put those in different genres even though they are also often 2D Platformers)

Regardless, Yooka is a steal at that price.

@FishyS I guess I forgot about rayman. Rayman is definitely up there. Shovel Knight is a better game overall, but I'd lump that in with action platforming more than a true platformer. I could be completely wrong, but I don't really consider them similar genre.

Regarding Celeste, I know I'm about to catch a boat load of hate for this. I should probably toss this into the unpopular opinions thread since what I'm about to say is so polarizing. But........I think Celeste is such an overrated game 😬. It's such a twitchy, un-flowable( if that's even a word lol) game it's more frustrating than fun to me. And not frustrating in a way that's rewarding when you accomplish it, just more frustrating that I made a slight misstep and have to redo the screen. I adore platformers. Heck, that's pretty much the only thing i knew how to play since I first started playing games in 90-91', I just can't get behind Celeste. Tangent over. Sorry about that 🤣

@NintendoByNature I think it's totally fair not to like Celeste. Honestly although I do like Celeste, personally I kind of lump it in with super meat boy and a zillion copycats in the subgenre of 'small blob of pixels jumping with double-jump equivalent and dieing a lot on spikes but with very short sections or levels between checkpoints." I think I have like 20 games like that. Celeste may not quite be my favorite but it's the one people have heard of. But I could imagine someone liking platformers but hating that whole subgenre. Or of course just disliking some Celeste-specific aspect.

And fair point about Shovel Knight.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters (both individually and the Collection) are having their first ever sale here in EU at 20% off!

Not too much of a discount I know (it's pretty much as typically stingy as Squenix tends to be with FF Switch sales XD) but given how this is the first time since release that they've ever gone down in price, I thought I'd mention it here anyway for those like me who may have been on the fence about picking them up before now

Same in NA, took long enough for any kind of markdown!

@Fizza finally. I've been waiting for 6 to hit a sale. Im buying tomorrow and that's just in time since I'll be done with prince of persia in the next day or so.

NintendoByNature

Fizza

@NintendoByNature Are you planning on grabbing the Collection or just VI on it's own? I think I might bite on the whole package since it's effectively 6 games for the price of 5 (or more accurately: 6 games for the price of the average modern game XD). I've never played Final Fantasy before though so I might head into the Recommendations thread to see what people think is a good starting point for the series!

@Fizza I actually bought it just now 🫠. There goes waiting until tomorrow lol. I only went with VI as I played through IV back during the summer. Most will tell you VI Is the best, but I've never played it myself. IV was alot of fun for me personally. I think the first 3 titles are a little dated based on what I've read with alot of grinding involved. I'm no FF expert though, so maybe others can chime in.

NintendoByNature

canaryfarmer

VI, yes, is the best, followed by IV. The first 3 are more... the games figuring things out. I played FF1 when it came out for the NES and was totally obsessed! V is cool and overall underappreciated.

I think I'll grab one of the FF games now and wait for a 30% off sale to get another. A lot of FF games on Switch have eventually gone to 60% off, so I'll eventually have 5 of them at that rate. 😅

I just saw that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is currently 40% off on the (NA) eShop until April 1st! I’ve had my eye on this game since it dropped so I might finally grab it!

Big thanks to @FishyS for pointing me to this thread!

**EDIT: This sale appears to be NA/US only (for now)**
