@ShieldHero Oh that's good to hear. Been on Nintendo Life for a good while now, and I've been huge into Nintendo games since I was a child. I still remember getting my Nintendo 64 way back then, haha. If you're interested to know, some of my favorite Nintendo series are Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Splatoon. I like Mario Kart and Mario Party, as well.

"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

@MarioVillager92, that's interesting! I like all of those same franchises to some extent! I bet that I will remember opening my Switch, which is my first gaming console I own myself, for the rest of my life.

@Jhena, same here! It's fun talking to you and everyone else. Finding out what news articles and forum posts I have in store on Nintendo Life has been one of my favorite parts of every day, even more I made an account.

Just watched the trailer. The Tamagotchis can even be developed further. Connecting the devices with friends looks fun.

I really like your avatar.

Wow, that makes it even more impressive! I like black cats.

I never had a Tamagotchi, just one of those rip-offs, so I can not really say anymore about it.

I had an off-brand Tamagotchi once and kept perfect care of it for a year or so. I wonder if I can find it and start it over...

@MarioVillager92 I haven’t yet posted it on the thread, but I’ll probably do it soon! I’ve already started a new one, but I went back to my old art style. Thought it would be easier to just go back to how I used to draw, and I luckily still have it. Ooh, drawing from angles are usually hard for me, so it’s cool your doing it. My greatest weaknesses in art are backgrounds, angles, perspective, and poses, the last one is what’s mainly causing my art block, but I think I just need to draw simple stuff first so I can get my creative juices flowing. I also prefer traditional art, but I’d love to get better at digital, I have a lot of respect for artists that draw digitally since I really suck at it.

The materials I use change a lot. I used to also use crayons when I was younger, and I remember buying some crayons recently for fun, but I didn’t really have a use for them so I donated them. I used to use markers a lot a few years ago, then included colored pencils, but then last year it changed to oil pastels, and right now it’s pens and water-based markers. I am starting to love water based markers, but they have a bit more restrictions compared to alcohol markers, because layering too much water-based marker on the page can damage it badly. I love drawing with pens, but it’s time consuming with all the strokes you have to make.

It’s crazy how well the first Banjo game struck a perfect balance between worlds that aren’t too big and not too small, and then scattering the collectibles equally despite how many there are in the game. Again Tooie isn’t bad in my opinion, it’s enjoyable but is too big and has badly designed minigames shoved in at times. Platformers will remain one of my favorite game genres! It’s very dumb when people ridicule others for stuff they like, and it’s good that you really began liking Nintendo a lot more and that their games made you feel better. Video games are absolutely the best when it comes to wanting fun and improving your mood, but also when you’re going through a tough time.

Yeah, I kind of originally expected a lot of the Switch 1 games to run since the hardware on that is weaker than the 2, so I was maybe a bit surprised when I found out some games can’t be run on the Switch 2 and came with compatibility issues, but it’s good that they are still actively trying to make sure most of the games can be run with little to no issues.

Wow, that’s a lot of hours, and you found all shrines and heart containers? Congrats, I can’t imagine how long it took, especially since TOTK is bigger than BOTW.

Yeah, I think it’s really the writing, characters, and the themes that make me enjoy the game a whole lot, the gameplay, not so much, probably one of the worst gameplay I’ve experienced in a Rare N64 game. I honestly wouldn’t have also minded if they released Bad Fur Day in its original family-friendly state, would’ve played it anyway and I did like the original look to it, but I think everyone said that if it hadn’t been changed and given personality, then it would have been viewed as generic and probably quickly forgotten. In fact, when the game was originally family-friendly, it got criticized for being too similar to Rare’s other platformers (especially Banjo) and the team developing it was given the option of d changing something with the game to increase interest in it and change public opinion, or just giving up and cancelling it. it is nice the game still saw the light of day and didn’t get cancelled, but I do understand that type of game not being your cup of tea.

Everyone sounds like their having fun with World, I’m pretty excited to see what other exclusives they have to reveal for it later on, and when you get the Switch 2, I hope you have plenty of fun with it! Speaking of exclusives, I gotta do my best to avoid Bananza spoilers next week. I don’t have a Switch 2 yet but I know people are gonna be talking about that a lot soon…

After many years, I started playing basketball again. Nothing serious though, just shooting some hoops and enjoying the movement.

@Jhena, that's a nice way to get some exercise! My younger brother loves basketball. He actually played it on a team for a few months earlier this year, but that team was only playing for a few months (that team is just for young kids, they only play games at the same time every year). He's still practicing though. Even though he's almost a decade younger than me, he will probably surpass me in basketball skills eventually since I don't really play sports. My only exercising I do for the most part is half an hour of short stretches every morning and evening (I often read Nintendo Life articles while doing that). I'm more into writing fantasy fiction stories inspired by anime.

Read up on this thread while on the plane, it's lovely to see people doing reasonably well. Lots of new people too!

@ShieldHero
Cool, I hope your brother will keep at it. Basketball is a lot of fun, and playing with friends and team mates is interesting. Of course if you play in a team, it becomes much more burdening, because you have to give it your best shot constantly and take responsibility for your actions in a game. It is not for everyone.

No need to force yourself to exercise. But it is cool, that you do stretching, while reading NintendoLife. Writing stories sounds exciting. Are you writing just for fun?

@Jhena, apologies for the slightly late reply. I've said this once or twice before on the site, but you may not have seen this yet: I intend on being a fantasy fiction author when I become a young adult (not quite there yet, you can see my age on my profile). That won't be my only job though, because I want a solid income as well, in case my books (which, being inspired by anime, will most likely only be enjoyed by weirdos) don't sell well. The well-paying job I'm thinking of getting into is radiology. Maybe I'll also have a YouTube channel (perhaps a gaming one) on the side. But what I really want to do as an adult is being an author.

@ShieldHero
No need to apologise, write when you have the time and when you feel like it.

Writing fantasy books is an honorable goal and I wish you luck! Will you write something like Attack on Titan or the anime with the shield hero? I once read a novel about Ghost in the Shell and enjoyed it, so I think writing books, which are inspired by anime might work. It works the other way too, one of my favourite anime The Sky Crawlers started as a novel series. Definitely great, that you make plans for your future.

@Jhena, several of my stories do have isekai (other world) stuff like Shield Hero, actually! One of my stories I'm working on is basically a combination of Shield Hero (other world, except in my story, the protagonist dies on Earth and gets reincarnated in the other world), Star Wars (a decent amount of combat is stuff like laser blasters) and Pokémon Horizons (the main characters travel the world in an airship). In the story, the main characters are trying to defeat a corrupt government that has taken over the entire world.

@Jhena, if I ever get any of my books published, I'll share about it on this thread! I'll probably also change my account name to my real name at that time, because as an author, I'm going to try to have all of my online presence have pretty much the same name so that people know who I am. I do not intend on keeping the "ShieldHero" moniker forever, it's just temporary until one of my books gets published. 😃
