I forgot that I wanted a nap around noon, so that caught up to me. Dog was sleeping next to my arm, woke up with the cat in his place. And the dejected dog had moved to the pillow, above my head. Pets.

I don’t know whether I want to make spaghetti or chicken alfredo for dinner.

Good grief, this thread makes it hard to take breaks from the internet long-term. XD

@ThanosReXXX I mean, I'll still have to get yearly eye exams as it's one of the stipulations in the lifetime enhancement commitment that comes along with my procedure (Basically, I can get enhancements, if needed, for free). But not buying a new round of contacts and solution every so often will be nice. Heck, even some of the better glasses here cost quite a bit. I had to temporarily transition into them for my procedure, and some mid-end frames with polycarbonate lenses were expensive enough. Transitions would've definitely upped the price even more. As the glasses were temporary, I didn't think the jump in price would be worth it. (Granted, it's my own fault for not getting an updated pair sooner)

I was starting to have some occasional problems when wearing contacts, particularly in the spring due to allergies. As for glasses, I've disliked wearing them ever since I first had to start wearing them at age 10.

How so? I said absolutely nothing that was impolite.

@Ryu_Niiyama Never mind. I interpreted your comment as you hinting at me being naive, which kinda pushed the wrong button on my side. But I'm over that now. Water under the bridge, and all that.

@Tyranexx I can relate to that. Have also been wearing glasses, ever since I was eleven. I was so happy once I was able to move on to contacts...

But nowadays, when I'm at home, the lenses go take a bath around 9 or 10 pm, and the glasses are taken out again. It's better for the eyes, and the lenses are easier to clean that way, so that's my usual ritual.

Still dislike glasses just as much as you, but when I'm all by myself, I don't really mind.

...And the stupid Japanese beetles are starting to divebomb everything that's flowering again. This year has NOT been a kind one when it comes to bugs that want to eat absolutely everything. It's been insanely wet here.

@ThanosReXXX I started doing something similar recently ever since getting that temporary pair of glasses. What prevented me from opting for an updated pair before was that insurance would only pay for either a year's supply of contacts or a pair of updated frames; not both. Before I started having problems, I would just opt for the contacts each time.

I liked to joke and say that I was blind, but that kinda changed a bit when I read that the procedure has even worked for those that were up to -9 diopters. XD

@Tyranexx I would never joke about being blind. Kind of a precarious topic for some...

@Tyranexx Wait, WHAT??? Japanese beetles? I thought the problem was hornets, but apparently, the entire Japanese insectarium is slowly starting to invade Western territories...

@ThanosReXXX @Tryanexx Yup, Japanese beetles are found from the southeast to upper Midwest to the Mojave. They love rose bushes. We’ve also got June Bugs from southeast up through Appalachia. They’re annoying fellas; when they brood, they burrow and lay eggs underground. When those hatch and emerge as fat grubs, they move around and feed at night on the surface before burrowing another hole for the day.

I decided on an alfredo for dinner. Now it’s time to find a spooky movie to watch.

@HobbitGamer Well, I can't offer any suggestions on what to watch, since I'm not really up to date with the genre, other than seeing a lot of teasers for the Chucky remake, but I actually CAN tell you which one NOT to watch: yesterday, I decided to watch "As Above, So Below" because the premise sounded so promising, but it ended up being a rather useless waste of my time, so avoid, unless you don't mind middle of the road horror-mockumentaries a la Blair Witch project, but decidedly more B-movie-like...

@ThanosReXXX - Horror vet here, and I watched As Above, So Below twice. I really enjoyed their descent into... spoiler territory. I found a couple of the scenes preying on claustrophobia so scary they were almost unwatchable. I had to look away when the camera man gets stuck in a tiny tunnel filled with bones. I respect your opinion though. Horror is highly subjective, so what works for one person may not work for the rest.

@Anti-Matter - I saw Return to Oz in the theater, and this scene has haunted me most of my life. Pure terror.

@bimmy-lee
I knew about Queen Mombi from a story book "Return to Oz" when i was kid.
The Queen who can replace her head with other maiden's head was really creepy.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

ThanosReXXX

@bimmy-lee Well, I went in without prejudice, and without prior knowledge concerning reviews, critical reception and so on. I saw the movie was going to be broadcasted on my set top box, so I just decided to record it, and I watched it a day later. Didn't know anything about it, so I didn't know what to expect.

First things first: I don't scare easily, so you'd have to come up with something pretty messed up to faze me. Stuff like what happened in the movie might make me jump out of my seat in games, but not in movies, so the difference is apparently the interactive part. I vividly remember jumping when I first encountered the zombie dogs crashing through the window in Resident Evil, but similar things in movies hardly make me move an inch.

Second is having a highly interesting premise, but not doing all that much with it. That's just a waste of potential. Funny thing is, that half of the movie, I constantly tried to figure out where I knew the lead character from, and after I found out, it also didn't really help things any further, because she currently plays in the Magnum P.I. reboot. Not that this would have to matter, but in my mind, this was the woman from Magnum playing in a horror mockumentary, which kinda took away from the experience.

But yeah, my experience and my opinion are of course entirely my own, so if you did like it, then that's ultimately all that matters.
