@ThanosReXXX I have a hard time not thinking of you as Dutch. I think the only thing that identifies you as ”gaijin" (to borrow the Japanese pejorative) is your disinterest in skating
Tch. Dissing American NASCAR, dissing Dutch speed skating......dissing the French..... Sooo....you're identifying as German now? (ok, ok...the French deserve it... )
Yeah, @NEStalgia brought up that topic. Nice drawing, but I really don't like ice skating, and I most definitely don't like half-naked men, so thanks, but no thanks.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@NEStalgia
Disney on Ice ? Ah... too common.
Boxing on Ice ?? Now, that's we called a Real Sport !
And watch your butt because you can slip down with butt hitting on ice.
@NEStalgia Well, I would hope that you'd make something of an effort to make it less hard for yourself, because I consider it an insult.
I don't feel Dutch, and I don't want to be Dutch. Me working and living here, necessitated me having a Dutch passport, but I only ever identify myself with the city I live in, not with the country or it's often narrow-minded and too traditional inhabitants. So call me an Amsterdammer, if you must...
But besides speaking Dutch, I still think, dream, write and read in English. And half of my heart and mind is still in California, and my origin is what I am, so yeah...

@Anti-Matter It sure would bring new meaning to Ali's "float like a butterfly".... It would be like a cross of boxing, ballet, and a deathmatch cagematch......skates are knives strapped to your feet after all, and skating injuries are very nasty business even without someone aiming for your face.
@ThanosRexxx I don't know, if I think of you as Californian I'd have to think of you as a foreigner.... Of course then I'd have to ask, if you're from North California, East California, or West California, as it's likely to be known in the not so distant future Just grab the Heineken, put on some skates and keep your head down and the East California militia may overlook you.
@NEStalgia
"It would be like a cross of boxing, ballet, and a deathmatch cagematch"
Eh, No Deatch match.
Sorry...
I designed my Skate Boxing as Cross of Boxing and Ballet.
It will be More Theatretical like Figure Ice Skating on Mario & Sonic.
Btw, i'm planning my Chibi Boxer: Boxing on Ice as my upcoming Calendar 2021.
There will be 12 Ice Skaxer represent 12 months.
And one of them is Ivanov.
If England could NOT win tonight so we dont have random street parties and drunks going around causing a ruckus and I can get a good night's rest, that'd be fannnnntastic.
I have somewhere to be tomorrow and I really do want this job.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@HobbitGamer I've just been ticking Thanos off by always calling it PDRC (People's Democratic Republic of California) I figure once they charge 114% tax in NCR there can be a mass migration to Caracas for a better life.
I'm no fan of CA or the way it's run, but I do love the idea of actually independent states which is how the country was actually supposed to be set up to begin with before bleeding into a monolithic federalist state post-reconstruction. CA should exist the way CA wants to exist, and other states shouldn't be part of that. (Granted I think if CA existed the way CA wants to exist the Hunger Games would have to be reclassified as non-fictional documentary..., but hey, it's their call!)
@Octane Very true, and that is also how many Amsterdammers see themselves, almost like an anomaly within the country. Must also be why I finally ended up there, because I felt right at home...
@NEStalgia Don't push it, buster...
And I know you don't like California, but then just simply think of me as a fellow yank, that's all I'm asking for, really.
It is weird, though. Over here, there is no such animosity of one state/province against the other, except on a smaller scale, for example in sports matches, so I don't get all the generalization and stereotyping everything.
I also never felt that it was like that in Benicia, although to be fair, I was probably too young to know or notice that specifically.
But still, my family, who came over every two to three years told us plenty of stuff, and of course, nowadays we have international TV and the internet, and it really doesn't seem all that bad to me. Actually, the plan was always to return at some point, but currently a number of factors is holding me back, one of the biggest ones being the idiot currently disgracing the White House with his presence.
P.S.
Good thing that the state abbreviations aren't also used for continents, huh? Otherwise, we could also add Central America and Central Asia into the mix...
@Knuckles-Fajita Now there's an English opinion you don't hear very often: most people would probably give their left arm for England to once again win such a big price...
But in all seriousness: I can understand in your specific situation. So, whatever happens with the English, good luck with the job interview. One small tip I could offer you, if I may be so bold: be pre-emptive in the interview.
What I mean by that is that you can, to a certain degree, already weave answers to certain possible questions in your introduction/story, so that you take questions away from them, which will hopefully result in them only having a couple of actual questions left. It's a good remedy for keeping the nerves in check, and to take control of the interview, even though they won't notice, making them think they're still in control...
And one other thing: keep in mind that they are also applying to YOU, so a job interview is never a one way street.
I always liked to let companies tell me why I would even want to work for them, and not letting them get away with pointing out that it was me who applied for the job in the first place, but actually letting them sell their company and/or the job position to me.
As for getting a good night's sleep: never a problem for me, with double-pane windows. And there's always ear plugs, if things get REALLY bad...
