@BLP_Software As someone who has grown up on American television, I'd say it's a mix of both American series being off-putting in terms of presentation, and Netflix cranking that up to 11. I especially notice a common lighting style they use that bugs the crap out of me. But I think other TV shows have been doing something similar, and I have yet to enjoy any of them in any capacity, so that just compounds the problem.
@CanisWolfred See, I'm colour blind, so it stings a little more with lighting, but there is something oddly unified about American cameras. Like the shots aren't unique. The quality of the shot has this...feel to it that looks artificial. It doesn't click with me. But then, I'm a Doctor Who baby so...

Yeah, that's what I was trying to allude to, I just couldn't find the words. I don't like it, I've had to deal with it at least since the 2006, and it's part of why TV fell out of favor with me back in High School, and why every attempt at getting back into it (especially since I've had Netflix) has failed.
Oh well, I have the internet. I'm fine without it.
@BLP_Software, Have you tried any of Netflix's non-American Originals?
A trend I've noticed is that their American produced Originals are almost unbearably dark during night scenes (or scenes that take place in dark areas). Daredevil is by far the biggest offender (there are times it's so dark it's almost pitch black), but it's also an issue I've noticed in Stranger Things, Jessica Jones & Luke Cage.
However, I haven't noticed the issue in any of their Japanese or British programs I've seen. Of those, I'd especially recommend Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories, The Crown, & Good Morning Call, BTW.

I have a complicated relationship with the MCU... Once I watched Iron Man 1 (which is one of the only MCU films I think still holds up) I really opened up to the Marvel universe and superheroes in general, after years of thinking most superhero stuff was dumb. Ever since then I got really attached and invested in the MCU and enjoyed seeing all the characters and plot points come together, it really excited me.
But their universe is definitely becoming too big and the shtick is getting old. I've noticed with many MCU movies, as well as the Netflix series, I watch them and like it the first time but it really disappoints me the second time I watch. Unfortunately the majority of them don't really stand well on their own as movies because each movie has to be tailored to 'fit' into the overarching MCU. I definitely wish the movies had more substance besides having action and effects (I didn't like Doctor Strange but the effects, at least, were astounding)
Anyway, all that said I am looking forward to their upcoming movies, especially Black Panther, but I really hope they don't have plans to go much further beyond Infinity War. It's definitely about time to wrap it up.
@ogo79 Punisher is pretty badass indeed, I'm looking forward to his Netflix series (hopefully he will be better than he was in Daredevil S2)
@AlexSays I had a few problems with the writing and plot, but it was definitely a good show, and Jessica has also become one of my favorite MCU characters. That being said, I haven't finished Luke Cage but I like what I've seen thus far.
@AlexSays, don't get me wrong, I actually really liked Jessica Jones (and the other shows I mentioned in my post), it's just that the lighting issue is a bit of a downer.
To be fair, whenever I watch the trailers on YouTube, or the few times I saw a commercial on TV (the same one I use to watch Netflix), the issues weren't there, but when I actually go to watch the shows, it's there. Maybe it has something to do with our 360's connection?
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
This year is off to a good start with Lemony Snicket which I liked.
Westworld had more epic moments in a show I've seen since Breaking Bad. And the best soundtrack. That scene with the robbery where Paint It Black was playing in the background? Ohhh myy goodness.
If I ever run from the cops I'm playing that song in the background.
@RR529 Does your Tv changes brightness settings automatically?
Mine changes settings depending on the input so I didn't realize why the same videos looked different depending on the Hdmi port I was using. Then I figured it out and set them all to the same.
@RR529 I kinda of live on Doctor Who and only Doctor Who when it comes to TV. I'm a british nerd, what can I say? Ill have to give them a shot but I cant say I've enjoyed any of the ones I've sat around people as they watched them.
@ogo79 I think The Punisher is cool too. Just wish Netflix would stop beating around the bush for 8 hours.

Me: She's a cat, that's how!
i dunno, our version of santa is pretty fat.
probably cuz im in texas.
that guy better not try and stand on my table.
the last thing he needs is more cookies.
the first thing he needs is to leave more presents.
but in texas santa is fat.
we have to leave chicken fried steaks instead of cookies.

VERY weird dream last night, and one of the rare ones that I've had in third person. Apparently some people from my hometown were invited to a special showing of The View at Disney World. However, they ended up on a weird bus that took them to a dark, twisted version of the theme park. ._. The rest of the dream is foggy, but they tried escaping various times to no avail. Finally they did escape, and ran off while being chased by a demonic Donald.
