You know what? I saw Captain America and they showed this trailer...on the big screen, the CGI looks impeccable. Almost uncanny. So I'm definitely more excited about this now

WOW! I'm glad to hear that.

Meh. Would've been better with Emma "I'm not Sharon" Stone in, well, EVERY SECOND of the trailer! btw, I'm sure this'll be great (with as much Stone as possible), but what's with all the reboots? And reboots of reboots? Hollywood is ridiculous. In a couple of years they'll reboot Captain America, Green Lantern and Thor. How about sticking with one thing long enough to develop a series? Guess Batman will be rebooted next, even though it's absolutely perfect under Nolan (then there's rebooting Superman). Give reboots the boot!

Rumors are that they want to reboot Batman after Nolen to possibly lead up to a Justice League movie like Marvel did with the Avengers. Of course both Bale and Nolan said Dark Knight Rising is their last Batman. As for Superman its been what about 30 years since we had a good one so I can see rebooting the Superman series. Heck they rebooted Batman and it was sooner than they are rebooting Superman.

3. I swear to God if they get Treyarch to make another open-world game akin to Spider Man 2 based on this movie i will hug them.
You and me both, man. I remember playing on my dad's PS2 for hours upon hours just roaming NYC as Spider-Man,
Still my favorite superhero game. I rented it for PS2 and then bought it for Gamecube after I sold my PS2 to get a Wii. I still play it occasionally. (It's better than playing through something like Web of Shadows. Shiver)
@Tasuki I think I tend to forget (or never acknowledged) that Superman Returns was connected to the originals of the 80's. Which is easy to do since that connection was very loose. If you're going to make a Richard Donner Superman, at least TRY to make it feel like Richard Donner Superman. Routh was fine and so was Spacey. But the wrong woman played Lois Lane. And the right woman (Parker Posey) was in the very same movie as the wrong woman! Posey and Routh had real chemistry that wasn't the least bit present with Bosworth.
And I for one am not crazy about Batman in a Justice League movie (though I know he'd have to be a part of it). I think of JLA, I think of the sometimes cheesy Saturday cartoon. I love the dark, gritty, realistic setting for the Nolan Batmans. And to bring him back in a world with Supervillains would feel like a million steps back for Batman, to the "Batman & Robin" Schumacher disaster.
I do have hope for this Spider-Man reboot because it's darker. I've read it described as an "Indie Film" Spider-Man. Guess I've never been a fan of going the corny route in superhero movies (which the Raimi films could be). And it'll be interesting to see a brooding, angst-ridden Spider-Man!
@WaveBoy I agree on the greatness of Batman Returns, The Dark Knight, Kiss from a Rose and Aaron Eckhart ("I Trust" Harvey Dent) being awesome.
Agree to disagree on Nolan's take, however. In my mind, he captured the essence of who Batman is, what Gotham City is and why it needs Batman. Makes such great drama seeing Bruce Wayne descending deeper and deeper into the darkness to fight Gotham's criminals, trying not to descend TOO far. Think there was a quote in Batman Begins along the lines of becoming what you are fighting. And we may see that happen to Batsy in The Dark Knight Rises, with Gotham literally crumbling around him in his absence as Batman, having to resort to drastic measures! Delves nicely into human nature and the fine line between good and evil. Hope they keep the tone when it's rebooted and I never hear dialogue like "GET THE HEROES" among other cringe-inducing winners in another Batman film!
Oh, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" was a highlight to the Batman Forever soundtrack. Some of U2's best!
I still remember laughing when Bale the Batman starting talking in his Batvoice during the beginning....
Ha, I did too... the first time. That's not the point though. The point is a guy gets yanked off his feet, and, upside down, is pulled 100 feet in the air from a string, and then has some guy in a mask intensely yelling questions into his face. Batman used a variety of things to increase the fear factor the way Ra's trained him to do. Remember Ra's' little talk about theatrics? :3
The whole thing that makes this movie look so horrible is that the Spider-Man franchise is NOT meant to be a dark and brooding sort of story like Batman. Even in it's most serious moments and storylines. It's completely the wrong tone for the character and the Spidey-verse in general.
BTW, the CGI did look fine on the big screen. But the movie as a whole, judging just from this trailer, still looks absolutely horrible.

The more I read about this movie, the more excited I get. The trailer has really grown on me, and all the cast/crew interviews from Comic Con and Entertainment Weekly have made it sound like they're really doing something different and exciting this film. Can't wait

@Shpydar While I'm intrigued by a truly dark-themed Spider-Man, from what I understand it sounds like, especially compared to Maguire, Garfield is going to be your unfriendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
@Pandalicious I got started things in that direction with my bat-mind. Apologies for steering the conversation so far away from the topic, which is Spidey.
I read the guy who's playing the Lizard was arrested at Comic Con for disorderly conduct (he allegedly shouted profane things at security).
The 90's Spider-Man series was good, but my attention was more directed towards X-Men. Spectacular was okay, but I hated it's rendition of my favorite villain, Dr. Octopus.
@ Rudydog13 Technically the web shooters are more in tune with the original comics but I liked them better as an organic ability. The ability to shoot webs should be something he got from the radioactive spider bite. Not something he has to build himself. I thought the spider DNA is what gave him his powers. Not some home made device.
Anyway I get the feeling this new movie will blow goats. What was wrong with the original trilogy? Well the first two anyway. A reboot after only 5 years? Yeah that was a good idea.

I agree. Although web shooters might be in sync with the original comics it makes a whole lot more scientific sense if Peter Parker's web slinging ability is due to the DNA entering his body from the radioactive spider bite. Sometimes, I wonder if developers don't things through all the way?

The only time Peter has had Organic Webs in the comics has been after being power-uped by a mystical spider totem. He got web, night vision, pincers, and advanced spider sense.
