Why? It seems that on this site full of "Nintendofanboys" PSone is actually getting votes
Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
Thank god this is a Nintendo-only site, because this thread would automatically become a Nintendo vs Sony fanboy battleground if it was for all consoles. Blood would be shed, games would be bagged, graphics would be mentioned, Mario would be called childish.......... the lot!
But, anyway, I think the N64 wins be default: Legend of Zelda: OoT and Super Mario 64 were on it!
Currently playing: Rhythm Heaven, Minecraft (XBLA), Pokemon B/W 2, Halo 4, The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, Fallblox, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN)
Will be playing soon: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Cave Story +, Wii U: NSMBU, Nintendo Land, (And lots more!)
I think the N64 has aged better, what with shorter loading times and less in the way of bad cinematics, but it was probably better being a PSone owner than a N64 owner back in the day unless you really liked 3D platformers.
PS1 is likely the better system (same with PS2 vs. GCN) in terms of how many good games are on it and the variety of games but I grew up with N64 and adore the system. And I adore the games on it, and as I've said before, pretty much any good N64 was INCREDIBLY good. Also helps that one of my semi-guilty pleasure games, Glover, apparently sucked on PS1 version.
I'd say I can't fully judge PS1 since I never played the non-FF JRPGs or SotN, but despite N64 being my favorite system and having it since 98 there's still a few games I haven't played like Perfect Dark, Bomberman 64's sequel, Snowboard Kids or No Mercy. And besides despite never owning one, I did play quite a bit of PS1. Especially all the platformers (there were sooo many) and Twisted Metal games and Tekken games and Final Fantasy 7 and 8 and Tactics (I swear I think I was better at turn based strategy then I was with any game I played later...somehow)
So...N64 for me. Outside of current gen (and even then ignoring Ps3), it's probably the only time I feel I genuinely know all about which system is better (but I'm almost certain NES and SNES were better than the competition).
The 5th generation was a bad time to be a console gamer. I'd probably go with PSX over N64 except mine fried itself while I was playing the last disc of Final Fantasy VII. The N64 on the other hand remained in perfect working order up to when it was pawned in late 1999. So if we had to choose between the N64 and a smoking pile, any gamer would choose the N64.
Just so everyone knows, the vote is:
PS1: 10
N64: 12
Its pretty close right now.
By the way, I really can't see any hatred or admonishing in this thread. You guys can say what you want, but I really can't see an outburst of resentment occuring in here if the current progress of the thread is any indication.
Best thread ever

Threads can turn sour in an instant.
I guess you're right in that regard. I wouldn't be surprised if this happened. Still, I would have expected it to happen by now. I think people have gotten over the system war that happened over a decade ago and went to playing and enjoying games on both systems, so I don't this thread will turn sour anytime soon.

The PS controller (and sadly, every Sony controller since) was uncomfortable and awkward to hold. Games had a TON of loading time that drove me nuts. It pushed out a lot of content... but the overwhelming majority was trash. Console reliability was poor. Multiplayer was generally lacking, at a time when gaming was almost always a group activity for me.
Nintendo's console seemed to barely release any games, and when they did come out the pricing was ridiculous. The drop in quality from first-party games to third-party releases was generally shocking. Sports and RPG games in particular were virtually non-existent. Ugh... what were they thinking with that controller design?
Both systems had some serious issues. But in the end, N64 left me with more memorable experiences and irreplaceable games than it's competition.

All it takes is one hate comment to spark a war guys. Just wait for that one guy to do it. 0_0
