Topic: Super Metroid remake?

Ok I know that everyone is going to say “super Metroid doesn’t need a remake it’s already perfect” but hear me out.
Super Metroid didn’t age well. I know super controversial but again hear me out. I don’t hate the game it genuinely is fun but it has a few problem that need fixing in a remake.
1.the wall jump. Oh GOD WALL JUMPING how is anyone supposed to do that without falling 10 times? At least make it so Samus starts sliding or something to balance it out.
2.the map. Am I the only one that gets confused which items I have already got and ones I missed? Because the map doesn’t change the tiles to show that you already got the item in that tile so you need to memorize which items you already have and ones you don’t.
3.the backtracking DEAR GOD THE BACKTRACKING!!! for popularizing the metroidvania genre it sure is missing some QOL features that future games have like quick travel. It definitely makes the game a bit of a slog at times when you have to traverse the game world to get some upgrades you missed.hopefully I didn’t offend anyone but super Metroid definitely needs some QOL to truly make it a true masterpiece. Does anyone else agree with my points or am I just a stupid guy from the early 2000’s who can appreciate a classic game?

@Greatluigi I think a Super Metroid remake would be good for sure and could definitely use the fixes you mentioned and probably a few more, just to make it less janky overall. Translating Metroid Dreads controls to Super Metroid would probably make this the best 2D Metroid for sure!
Since this one and Metroid Fusion are the only ones left without a remake and Super Metroid is the older and jankier out of the two i see absolutely no reason why they wouldn't remaster Super Metroid next, if they want to remaster another 2D Metroid

I agree about the wall jumping, I've never been able to master it. But to be fair, it is an entirely optional ability, not required to progress.

In regards to backtracking, I've never had an issue with it. It's kind of a staple of the genre as a whole. In comparison to some more modern metroidvanias with massively sprawling maps, super metroid's is relatively small and you can get around quite quickly if you know what to do. But this is coming from someone who's played through the game dozens of times at this point.

I would also love a remake to fix some of the jank that Super has. I don't think it's a perfect game, but it's almost there. Wall jumping could definitely be improved upon, and I think the map could also be more detailed. I also think the base movement is a little floaty for my liking. For the backtracking, though, I don't really think this game needs a fast travel system because the world is relatively small compared to a lot of other Metroidvanias. I never found the backtracking to be painful.

I would also like an ability to see how many items you've obtained in a certain area, a la Metroid Dread. That's a super helpful feature and would make item obtaining way easier in my opinion. I think a Super Metroid remake in the engine used to make Dread would be a dream come true. Port over the map, soundtrack, and mechanics, but add some QoL stuff to make the game shine more than it already does.
