WHY are these Games TOO HARD?

When I was kid, I subconsciously understood them to be enjoyed by the older teen/adult gamer due to the Games difficult level.

But as an older Gamer, I still CANNOT enjoy these games, even though I like the graphical style.

How is it that you're supposed to play Strikers when there are bullets EVERYWHERE and no means to escape?
I KNOW Arcade Games were designed to take all your money but this is ridiculous!

I'm NOT complaining/crying over wasted money I've spent on the E-Shop (as I've bought ALL said Games mentioned in this topics title) and completed each one but only after using the infinite continues.

And please don't say 'get good' as that makes no sense in the context of what I've typed above.

Well you can Git Gud at it but it takes alot of practice and I mean alot. As others have said, it's designed to take your quarters so developers back then made them near impossible. But they aren't impossible just need to play them alot.

@KimberlyHart I was being legit. I have seen people play those games with ease, but as I said it takes a ton of practice.

I have similar thoughts. I absolutely love the idea of "shmups" (I understand Metal Slug is more "run 'n gun", but I digress), but everytime I try to get into one my limitations as a twitch reflex gamer become all too apparent, lol.
