"The autoload data is not present. Press X to start a new game of GTA IV."
I checked the save data folder, and the data for GTA IV is gone (but "Ballad of Gay Tony" is still there). I was just playing the game a couple days ago! How could my save data delete itself?!
Have you tried looking up what the issue may be before assuming it's a virus?
I just don't see how the save data could delete itself. I checked the PS3's save data folder, and the only thing listed under GTA IV is "Logging On". I have no idea what that is.
The same thing happened to me with Arkham City but it said "Your game file was corrupted" or something. I screamed because I didn't wanna go through that boring game, AGAIN. I just wanted the trophies.
Thankfully, after I restarted my PS3 it wasn't corrupted at all. Thank god.

anything can destroy save data when you get down to it — the power running to your PS3 could've fluctuated during a save, or you could've shut it down too early and it was still saving, it could've been a bad write to the system memory or whatev' (hiccups happen). If you're really not sure, and Google hasn't turned anything up for you, try contacting Sony.

Did you by chance unplug the power cord wrong? Like from a power outage or anything relating to the power just going off? Otherwise none of this makes sense.

Nope and nope. The last time I played GTA IV was a few days ago. I saved the game manually then shut off my PS3. I never unplug it, I just turn off the surge protector bar.
The message says "The downloadable content required for this autoload is not availabe. Press X to start a new game of GTA IV." What downloadable content? I have the GTA IV Complete Edition, with the 2 Episodes on the disc.
I think I figured out the problem. The autosave data got deleted, but the manual save data is still there. I just started a new game and loaded the manual save data.
