of not? rare hasn't been the same company since the stamper brothers sold some of the firm's shares to microsoft, and nintendo were forced to pay the remaining 49%. instead of making quality titles, they're resorted to making casual games such as kinnect sports. rare has had a strong affiliation with nintendo all the way back to the N.E.S days up to the gamecube.
their line-up for nintendo consoles included goldeneye 007, the original donkey kong country, battletoads, killer instinct, banjo-kazooie, jet force gemini, perfect dark to name. given their history with nintendo, they would be ideal as a subsidiary to nintendo. it would be like reliving the good ol' times all over again. and who knows, they might eventually put out killer instinct on the wii U!
SEGA, on the other hand are not the same force as they were during the 16 bit megadrive/genesis days. they are undergoing a restructuring phase at the moment, with staff being laid off and gaming projects cancelled in the wake of poor sales. because of this, SEGA have been losing a lot of money.
some will say Nintendo buying SEGA wouldn't make much sense, but these 2 companies know each other all too well- they have been and are highly experienced in both the hardware and software developing side of things. they have been arch-rivals but they're also now buddies as SEGA makes games for nintendo systems. and who wouldn't love to see a mario & sonic platformer or sega/nintendo smash bros style game?
SEGA does have one thing that rare doesn't have- plenty of good I.Ps and characters. sonic, bayonetta, shenmue, NiGHTS, space channel 5, virtua fighter to classics such as toe jam and earl, streets of rage, golden axe, space harrier, shinobi, alex kidd, kid chameleon, gunstar heroes, i can go on and on.
another reason as to why it could be better for nintendo to buy SEGA instead of rare, is the fact that nintendo has retro studios, who many see as their own 'rare' . they make almost similar titles of games for nintendo systems, so there isn't a need to buy rare.
either way, both rare and SEGA would benefit a great deal by working as a second-party and they would see their games flourish under nintendo, so by doing well under nintendo, they are in effect doing well for themselves too.
I like the idea of Nintendo owning SEGA, but not a Mario platformer with sonic aspects in it! shudder

oh definitely i agree. also let nintendo co develop the sonic game with SEGA. for the exception of sonic colors, sonic games range from the ok to poor, but with nintendo's input, they'll definitely make them better.

Sonic is AMAZING!! Nintendo is AMAZING!! I AM AMAZING!!
would it be awesome? yes. Will it happen? absolutely not. I don't think Microsoft will let Rare go anytime soon, and Sega is HUGE. While nintendo probably could buy sega out, that would be a big deal. That would be like EA getting bought out, it's not going to happen.

Rare has been talked about a thousand times before. Rare isn't going back to Nintendo. Never. Just let it go.
As for the current state of Sega, they've seen far worse. Going multiplatform is what allowed them to pull themselves out of the hole they were in after the Dreamcast imploded so I doubt they'll change their direction now.

Its never going to happen but I would love for Rare to be bought by Nintendo as I would love to play their N64 classics on VC and with Nintendo's help, maybe they will make new additions to already existing IPs that do their earlier games justice. If Nintendo buy out Sega, I would hope that they get them to make a wider variety of games rather than bringing out a new Sonic game every year. Even though Sonic's games have been better, its still a bit much getting at least one new Sonic game every year.
I don't think Nintendo should buy SEGA, too much baggage. The Sonic franchise would be in better hands if they did though. Overall, I think Microsoft would be a better choice to buy SEGA.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
Both. Nintendo and RARE made some great games together, and no one could make sonic better than Nintendo. On second thought, buy RARE back, and just buy Sonic.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
Yo op r what's excatly are casuel games. Technically speaking most of what nintendo makes is casuel right. An d not sure why people get it I. Their heads that buying rare will turn the. Back into the 90s team. While a lot of the old guard is still there a lot has left ss well.
A nintendo/Deva merger would be horrible a number of reasons. Despite their huge losses Deva has really been trying this generation too become a better publisher and they have released a ton of good games. If they leave all you have for big first parties in Japan would be capcpom and square-enix. 2 this could end il being horrible as Sevastopol teams have been with the expection of the sonic team aren't that used to working with the wii. Could end up as bad as the sprint/nextel merger that stannagted the company.
Now what nintendo should do is focusing on acquiring smaller studios that can work on games outside of their realms. Buy misywalker (them or Microsoft I don't care just get the guch off of ios),next level games, monster games, a dev like obsidian, and a few other smaller western studios.

@sushifreAk: Hasn't Dimps been working on Sonic games for awhile now...at least ones that people have claimed to be enjoyable? The answer, yes.
Yeah, but the only noteworthy stuff they've done is the Sonic Advance series, Sonic Unleashed (didn't they do the daytime stages only?) and if they didn't screw up the physics, Sonic 4. Sonic Team beat them with Generations.
