Topic: Shiny Pokemon Stories (your first encounter with a shiny 'mon)

I encountered my first shiny pokemon in 2004 while playing leafgreen on my brothers GBA. I didn't even know what it was so i eventually released it.

I've only encountered one shiny Pokemon. I am kicking myself right now because I am really struggling to remember what Pokemon it was and what game it was in. I was shocked at seeing it for obvious reasons, and I don't even remember what I did with it. I'm pretty sure it was a crappy Pokemon because I didn't put it on my team.

Do you remember what Pokemon it was?

@KingH3nrry yeah it was a venonat. i was stupid and made an in-game trade on cinnabar island for a voltorb....or electrode......I can't remember which.

@anthony12 Wow, a shiny for a piece of **** lol. BTW I just remembered what my first shiny Pokemon was, it was a Mawhile in Pokemon Platinum

@KingH3nrry I Know! a few years later i found out what a shiny pokemon was and got so mad!

During my Pokemon Black journey (somewhere between the third gym, and fifth gym) I found a shiny deerling. Luckily, I had a repeat ball, and catching it was easy. Now I have one awesome sawsbuck in my party.
My brother encountered a shiny magnemite in Soulsilver. Too bad its hard to catch Pokemon in the Safari Zone.

Of all my years playing pokemon i have only encountered one Shiny (excluding Red Gyarados). It was a Lotad in Sapphire. I didn't catch it because I was grinding a new pokemon and was doing the "press A rapidly" plan. My first hit was not only critical but super effective and knocked it out...

Pretty sure I've never knowingly ran into one

Which is pretty annoying looking back on how much I played Pokemon back in the day.

The only one I've run into is a red Gyarados

My first non-gyarados shiny encounter was a golden pidgey in pokemon silver. I was more like "nice, sparkles!" Than "OMGWTFMUSTCATCH"... Like I am now when I find a shiny.

I've never seen a shiny in my 10+ years of playing Pokémon..

I've only run into a shiny once. It was a shiny Bidoof in Diamond. Unfortunately, I was just grinding for the first gym and I hadn't actually obtained the Pokeballs yet. Ah well, maybe it was for the better.
My sister's ran into about 5 shinies though. She caught a shiny Pikachu in Viridian Forest in SoulSilver!

On the other hand, my brother was playing MY Pokemon Silver one time (I let him erase my file) and he eventually ran into a shiny Larvitar which then became a shiny Tyranitar. Man, that thing was a beauty. We ended up trading it through Pokemon Stadium and then it just disappeared one day..

My first was a shiny Spheal in Sapphire. I wasn't quite sure what was going on, and just sat there for a minute before realizing they really aren't supposed to be purple.
My brother had told me that if I kept it in my PC for a while, all the Pokemon around in its grid would turn shiny, too. So there it spent its life before I restarted the game, thinking it wasn't that rare, anyways.
I've encountered a shiny red Gyarados in Sapphire, as well. And a shiny Shinx is Diamond! That last one was my favorite, because at the time, Shinx was a personal favorite.

My first shiny was the rotom in pearl! It was the first time I saw a rotom and thought that the sparkles were just something rotom did. Luckily I caught it but stupidly restarted my game without transferring

Has anyone else hatched a shiny pokemon?

The only time that happened to me was in diamond (the game where I found the most shinies ever), it's a remoraid. I have it in my white 2 cart. Still level 1. It's too cute to evolve.

Another shiny I found was geodude in leafgreen while training in mt.Moon. I didn't catch it but not because it used self destruct but because I had no pokeballs. Now I make sure I always have a few in stock.
