If a doll is shaken (not by me btw) one I saw online. Boy baby talk doll by galoob online. Is there anyway he could be saved as for restoring the mechanics? I keep gravitating to him & checking out the photos. I've prayed about this as well & getting a feeling I should avoid that particular doll online because of how messed up his mechanics are... I saw his photos & keep getting a image in my mind of child maybe 8 or 9 really shaking the doll hard back in the 80's if I'm right his mechanics might be really messed up far beyond the corrosion in the battery compartment... I must be really thinking of him because I'm having dreams of his talk box & the inner mechanical guts seeing it in dreams at night. In a few dreams I saw severed wires. I really want to taken him on both as a restoration case & just to have him with my other doll's in general. I have one boy baby talk doll already but he's loosing his hair other wise mechanically he works perfect. The one online has perfect hair but his talk box is in really bad shape. If I do get him I do know of one way how to get him to work but I would have to get girl baby talk in decent shape for a low price. Disconnect the wires from his head to the talk box do the same with a girl baby talk & switch the talk boss... 🤔🤷♀️ I had to apart the girl baby talk a while back to clean her cloth body but didn't have to mess with the talk box at all before so I know what the doll looks like already with out the cloth body on. It's a head with 3 wires coming through the neck area connected to the top part of the talk box. The talk box is white & bulky. 🤷♀️
The boy baby talk doll is on eBay. I already talked to the seller. They said he was in non working condition. There asking $89 plus $28 in shipping. I'm going to wait & see if the price drops or another is listed. The other girl baby talk doll's that are on there in non working condition the seller's have listed around $30 to $40 & the working girl baby talk doll's on there the seller's want $85 but the seller with the boy baby talk is selling him for $89 + $28 shipping knowing he's a non working doll which makes zero sense to me. I understand from the vintage stand point but to sell any non working doll for that much is to crazy... 🤦♀️
@Barbiegurl777 Ya, that much for a non working doll is crazy and even if someone is a collector that's crazy.
I recommend to trying waiting a bit, see if there's a new better listing or wait for a price drop
Right now that does seem like the best option. Also I did try looking to see if I could find one on other sites and my search was fruitless. But I'm still looking.

Here is the thing.
You need to realize if those dolls are from 80's era, the items are no longer have been made so no wonder if the price was expensive due to its rarity.
Btw, one tips for you when you make a thread.
You don't need to explain the unnecesary details as you can only type "Is there any cheap price option for Shaken Doll on Ebay?" rather than explained every detail of your obsession with mechanical doll.
I believe you are already more than 20 years old (if you are between 11 - 20 years old, pardon me) and you can type better conversation with other peoples.

Alot of the 80's doll's we're designed that way to repair the mechanics in the head: Baby Talk Galoob 1985 to 1987, Baby Heather Mattel 1987, World Of Wonders Julie 1987. Not sure of the other doll's before 1987. I was born at the end of 1987 so the majority of my doll's are from the 90's some I bought used were from the 80's, also some from early 2000 era. Scalp swapping on doll's~ 😉😂😂🤣
Yeah when galoob designed the baby talk doll's. There actually meant to look realistic back then. Sort of like a reborn doll but with mechanical movement involved with blinking eyes, mouth movement, motion sensor to detect when being picked up & put down & the ability to talk. I have 4 baby talk doll's all different. Very unique & impressive for there time era. I will admit I feel as though alot of growing up the 90's as girl's (myself included) were short changed when it comes to the doll industry. Alot of our doll's in the 90's were defently interesting but so many with painted on eyes, painted closed lips. One the few who I think got the ball rolling with eye & mouth movement again in doll's was Amazing Amy by Playmates. I retracked her back down a while back works great. She was the prototype for Amazing Amanda by Playmates. I have both. Amy has a wild streak personality sort like Angelica from the Rugrats where Amanda is very sweet & calm. The company Playmates gave both doll's very unique personality's~ 🤣

Well...
For the things that made from 80's era, you have to prepare your heart that someday they will be broken and unrepairable as they are getting old so it will be very hard to find another 80's doll with very good condition and even if there is an user on Ebay have one, they might put an expensive price tag for its rarity.
You will not find a very good 80's Shaken doll from Ebay with the price you want, it will be always very expensive than you expected.
Btw, if you have somebody who can fix your 80's Shaken doll, it will save a lot of money than you have to buy another doll from Ebay.
The doll's correct name is Baby Talk by Galoob not 80's shaken doll. I was going by different vibes off the photos I saw of the doll. I've bought 4 of these doll's on eBay in the past. They don't have to be expensive it literally depends on the seller as for price. All 4 of mine I paid maybe $10 each a few year's ago. The doll in 1985 originally retailed for $80 back then with good reason because of what it can do. All 4 of mine work great~ It's a testament for it's time era that they still work unlike my luvabeau (boy version of luvabella) which I had to call Spinmaster because mine malfunctioned in less than 8 months & they replaced... I can fix the doll. I've worked on other mechanical doll's in the past. I can usually take them apart, fix them, then put them back together. I don't know of anyone else who can fix the doll except me. It also depends on how badly of shape his talk box is in. I know there's already corrosion / rust in both the c & double AA battery compartment from the photos. Shaking any mechanical doll is literally the worst thing a person can do to a mechanical doll. Same way how people are not supposed to shake a real baby in real life the same goes for mechanical doll's as well. With a real baby it's known as shaken baby syndrome not sure what it would be called for a doll except doll abuse... 🤦♀️ I would never treat my doll's in that manner as I have respect for my doll's but everyone is different... 🤦♀️ The older doll's 9 out 10 times can be restored. When I do restoration on my doll's I make them sparkle like brand new again. Clean from top to bottom inside out. I normally can find all of there original clothing, accessories etc which I usually do. I like them looking as though they came out of the box new again. That's why restoration is fun in it's own way~ 🤷♀️✌️

Okay, I want to ask, what is the point from making this thread ?
Are you asking for help about your broken doll or just want to talk about your hobby (mechanical doll) ?
Because it seems only you that have interest with that hobby and I'm not sure there will be another user who have same interest as yours.

Open thoughts & opinions in general.

This particular doll is not mine as of yet. A little of both. Whether you believe it or not there are other young adults / millennials & older adults who do have a genuine interest in the doll hobby. I happen to be particularly interested in mechanical & reborn doll's. I don't own any that are porcelain only because in the past I had maybe 3 or 4 that were porcelain & shattered even though I was still trying to be careful with them so I avoid those type in general. I'm interested in both doll's & video games. I actually have alot of hobby's but those are my 2 favorite hobby's I was introduced to both at the age of 2. Roger Rabbit pull string stuffed animal was technically my first "mechanical" doll / rabbit. First game Duck Hunt NES in 1989. I don't care if anyone else has the same interest as me on here or irl. What I'm interested in is what I personally like. Been different from as far back as I can remember. I don't mind standing out or walking alone. Used to it. I'm an only child.
@Barbiegurl777
Oh, btw.
Do you like plushie dolls too ?
I have two plushie dolls: Luigi and Pikachu.
I used Pikachu plushie doll for my cosplay costume as Ash Ketchum last October 2018.
