Honestly, when judging when teenage years begin, the whole "You have to be 13 and up" mentality is very outdated. Especially since for the most part, 12-14 year olds aren't fully teens yet, and the way the media sometimes defines tween as 8-12 years old, what kids that age probably haven't even started middle school yet (which is the main reason why tween is nothing but a fancy marketing gimmick these days in terms of media). Here's how it should be IMO.
I personaly feel determining the stages of kids by school age rather than vague number indicators like 13+ is much clearer, and is more acurate to when puberty actually starts which is roughly 12 years old for most kids. So what are your opinions?
I can say as a person who still vaguely remembers what it's like to have been a teenager...I'd say you're right. Those weird hormones didn't set in until I was exactly 14 and no sooner.
I think completely different
0-3 baby
4-11 kid
12-16 teens
17-18 young members of the society
like it or not kids are getting too premature to a point even their bodies are growing faster than the older generations now we see 11yo kids almost as tall as fully grown adults. and sometimes it is hard to tell "tweens" apart from older teenagers(or even young adults)

Well actually, adolescence begins at age 12, sometimes as early as 11. But usually around 14 1/2 or 15, those raging hormones should have largely settled though since yours settled when you just turned 14, it probably varies from boy to boy.

Yep, as others have said, you're a teen as soon as you're an age with "teen" in the number.
I've never been fond of the whole "tween" moniker, TBH. It seems like a term created by a home blogger trying to be clever 5 - 10 years ago, and it just caught on for whatever reason. You're a kid until you're 13, and that's not a bad thing.

This is easily the stupidest thread in quite some time (and i know i say that a lot, but well ... that's what it's come to here these days).
"Teenager" means nothing more than someone aged ThirTEEN to NineTEEN. Now please excuse me while i bang my head against this brick wall.

Quite the opposite, actually. One of my lit teachers in high school said that the word teenager didn't even come into use until the 1950s, but I haven't found a source for this. Anyway, the partitioning of teenage years is a new concept, originating in the early- to mid-twentieth century. It used to be just child and adult, which hinged more on physical maturity than on a number, as far as I know.
Even then, teenage, when it pertains to stages of physical and mental development, is pretty much another way of saying adolescent. If the arbitrariness of the numbers bothers you, just use that term instead. In the literal sense, teenage just means between the ages of 13 and 19 years, inclusive.
My opinion is that teens are basically kids. That includes me.

Actually, 13 year olds are still kids too.
I would say many people are kids until their mid-, possibly even late twenties. But what do I know? I haven't been those ages! I'm pretty sure someone who actually has been would have a better idea.

If you want to be literal about it everyone is a kid. A kid is an offspring of someone, and everyone is an offspring.
