Yeah I'm not a big fan of Apple, but getting a polished OS for only $20 is undeniably great value. I wish Microsoft would take a leaf out of Apple's book! (I don't actually know if it would be viable for Microsoft to release sub-$50 operating systems - can anybody tell me?).
I use Linux and Windows. I'd be happy to move entirely to Linux simply because it's cheap, but I play a lot of PC games so it's not a viable option.
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

It may not be out in stores, but you can download it for $20 from the Mac App Store right now. I'm not sure if my previous statement is new news, but the title of this thread is misleading compared to the content actually in the thread, so I thought I'd throw it out anyway.

It was a play on the fact thats the update is through the Mac app store only and apple is quickly phrasing out its retail software presence.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
Anyone happen to know whether if I buy a refurb from Apple whether the latest OS would automatically be included?

Ask the people you buy your Mac from; When my family upgraded our Mac last year on the day Lion came out we couldn't buy one w/ Lion already installed on it, but they gave us a code that gave us a free download of Lion once we connected to the internet and logged into the App Store. Chances are it'd be the same as that scenario, but you never know until you ask...
@Sony_70 - Oh. Well, like any good joke, you killed most of the humor by explaining it, but at least you cleared up some confusion in my head, so thanks.
They edited the up-to-date page for Mountain Lion to say refurbs are included since the last time I checked, so I think I will go ahead and get a refurb. I've had screen and battery issues with both Apple laptops I've bought, so I don't really feel like buying anything from them but the minimum anymore as it just doesn't seem worth the investment when you can't count on the hardware lasting very long. If it weren't for the OS, I'm not sure I'd be buying Apple computers anymore at all.
Yeah, I used to use Linux before I got my first Apple, but I like being able to use iTunes and stuff. The only way I'd ever get a PC is if I were going to put Linux on it.
Eh, it's probably not a super-essential upgrade for users of Mac OS X Lion (10.7), but our family Mac could sure use an upgrade from Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). I wonder how hardcore Mac fans feel about Apple making Mac OS X resemble iOS.
@Wheels2050 The only issue with Ubuntu is that it isn't too friendly with OEM PC's nor is installation easy for the everyday user . I tried installing it on my HP laptop, but the darn thing won't install >:[ And I really want to try it out.
I have Snow Leopard running.. Should I upgrade? I'm worried about certain applications like Windows Office not working
EDIT: Seeing some reviews, I'm going to have to wait. Some cases are saying it'll slow down Macbook Pros and mine is an early 2011- late 2010 build. So, I'll pass knowing my luck.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I'm going to play it very very safe and hold out. I remember Lion's release last year where there were problems and within a month Apple ironed everything out to tip top shape. I'll wait for that. No rush.
@Sony70: How is Linux useless? Apart from games, you can do basically anything you want on it and the software is free. Granted, the software may not be as polished as some commercial stuff, but I've yet to find a Windows application that I can't find a decent (or even superior) replacement for (again, apart from games).
