I'm amazed that Studio Ghibli doesn't win every single one of these. It's like picking He-Man or Transformers over classic Disney. They're in entirely different leagues.

Honestly though, that's far from absurd. It's all about what you like the most, and I can easily see people liking He-Man or Transformers over a classic disney movie. You say that like those shows aren't f***ing fantastic.

Now that I think about it, if Classic Disney means anything older than the 90s, I'd easily vote tons of shows over them, especially Transformers.

I'm voting for Ponyo, just because it's the only one I've seen.

While I enjoyed it, it isn't one of my favorite Miyazaki films though.

They shouldn't be compared at all, is the point I was getting to. It's like trying to compare a Kubrick film to The Avengers, or an art gallery to the fashion photos in Bazaar, or <insert popular Rap/ Metal/ Pop music artist> with a symphony orchestra.

One is artistically fulfilling, the other is raw entertainment. The existence of both is important, but you can't compare art and entertainment any more than you can literally compare apples and oranges. Comparisons are meant to be for two things that are actually similar

Ponyo. Its a bit overrated but better than Panty &Stocking.

Ponyo Wins 10-6 they were actually tied for a while.

Up next, Round 1: Match 18
Porcco Rosso
VS
Baccano!

One Features a pig shooting up dudes in planes. The other features people getting shot up and then pulling themselseves back together. Literally.

Porco Rosso.

Hallelujah.

Porco Rosso

I love Baccano! (although I always seem to forget just how incredibly gruesome it can be - maybe Isaac and Miria offset it in my mind or something), but I love Porco Rosso more.

I've heard of Porco Russo, but I haven't seen either, so I'll pass.

I haven't seen either but I'd definitely like to try out Baccano out some point, it looks like a very interesting anime.

I haven't seen Porco Rosso and I don't care; Baccano! gets my vote, if only for the fact that it was insanely violent, had deliciously evil villains, and was an absolute thrill-ride from start to finish.
