This is Luca, he's 14 years old (in this universe), he goes to middle school, and like most teenagers his favorite things include watching anime, playing video games and hanging out with his best buddy in the whole stinkin' world. Oh, I may be exaggerating that last bit, because unlike other teenagers, Luca has one itty-bitty little...genetic inheritance from his mom, which began with his great-great-great grandfather.
You see, his ancestor was a kitsune spirit, a fox in Japanese folklore. They were known for having nine tails, a centuries-long lifespan, and were skilled with powerful magic. But his 3-times great grandfather fell in love with a human woman, and not wanting to spend a few more centuries alone, he used his magic to turn himself into a mortal human, with only the ears and three of his nine tails remaining. Their descendants inherited the ears and tails, and a century (and a half) later, we have Luca.
I had to make some corrections to my last pic, namely I had to make him shorter, add a "cuff" to his right leg and re-drew his hand on his face because I had his thumb on the wrong side.
I randomly bought a set of watercolor brush pens on amazon, and decided to make a little sketch to test them
Iβm honestly quite happy with how it came out! Using the markers directly on the paper results in more pigment, but it then becomes hard to blend out. Applying them on a palette and then using a wet brush like they're normal paints results in more muted colors, but much better control (and you can also mix them there).
