I chose the word formatting for lack of a better word, but I have some questions on how the articles and reviews are written here.
First off, clearly it's been decided by the NL higher ups that each article title on the main page has to be followed by that tag sentence below it, no matter how unfunny and dumb they usually are. But anyway...
All the articles and reviews seem to be written by a single person. But all of them use words like us and we instead of I and me. Is every article and review supposed to be the opinion of everyone at NL? Does anything written for this sight need to be cleared by everyone to make sure it is something they stand behind?
It is especially weird for reviews. Are we to believe that everyone there feels a specific way about every opinion on each of these games? Are these reviews all written together as a group, and then one writer is chosen to publish it? It's just strange how it's always 'we feel' or 'we recommend', as if no one there can feel any differently.
Anybody have any perspective on this strange phenomena?
It's very commonplace for magazines and websites to use 'we' to refer to the writer. Not sure exactly what that is but it's nothing unique to Nintendo Life.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

Maybe. Although looking through about 20 reviews for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (through the critic review tab on Gamefaqs), I couldn't find anyone else doing it. They either used I, or they didn't refer to themselves at all. This is why I brought the topic up in the first place, it's the only site I've noticed it, and it just sticks out to me because I haven't seen other articles written that way. I just thought it was odd.
@Snatcher - News journalism avoids the issue entirely, but entertainment journalism has to pick a structure, and most of the time it’s “we”. Some of the writers on the site can interject “I” into the “we” effectively, but for the most part; it’s written in “we” because that’s the most inclusive, least abrasive tense. I don’t doubt there’s a level of collaboration in NL Towers, but reviews are written by the author in the byline. Most of the time in journalism, headlines and taglines are not written by the author. Not sure how that works on NL.
@Snatcher - “We” means you and me which is nicer than just me, or me shouting at “You”. I wrote tense a few times in that response, but I meant perspective. “I”, “We” and “You” are perspectives.
