This makes me sad. I still get giddy everytime I open the mailbox and get my copy of Nintendo Power (and Game Informer and OXM when I was a subscriber and Maxim and Playboy and and and)
I was looking so forward to all the great new stuff they would talk about when Wii U comes out! But now it looks like it will never happen. I guess maybe I could go find another Nintendo related magazine. But it wouldnt be the same...
Can't say I'm surprised. Gaming magazines are kind of rendered obselete through the internet. The only reason why Game Informer is doing well is because of Gamestop.
Best thread ever

I guess I'll have to subscribe to WWE magazine or PWI.
I'm really going to miss NP, as it was the one thing that got Me interested in games other than the usual Mario or Zelda game.
It's how I started looking for games like SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, The Bigs, SNK Arcade Classics & Data East Arcade Classics.
And all the great articles.

Wow. I guess it's both surprising and not surprising at the same time. While it has been a staple of the Nintendo culture since about 7 years before I was born, it's ending in the 21st century, with much cheaper and faster sources of news available (quite literally) anywhere a consumer wants them makes the demise of "niche" magazines inevitable. Even if it had the "online presence" some previous poster alluded to, just about every time I've been to a store that sells a decent variety of magazines it either 1. Isn't there, or 2. Buried behind a bunch of other gaming/tech 'zines. Well, I enjoyed it while it was around...
AGH. Not NP. I love them to death! Second favorite gaming mag is Gamepro. I have Game informer, but only for the reviews as they are one of the best reviewers out there IMO (Lots of sites gave Pokepark wii great scores, but NL and Game informer gave them a 4/10, which I Agree with 100% due to the game's horribly easy tasks.)

So sad this is happening. I just can't believe it. I've collected Nintendo Power magazines for as long as I can remember. They were always something to look forward to, even if I could read most of the stuff on the internet. Very upset to see them go.
Kinda make me wish I still had my old issues of Nintendo Powers. Sadly though the only three I have left are the first issue, issue number 50 and issue 100. The rest of them fell apart from me reading them so much. Maybe I will scope out Ebay and see if I can find some of favorite issues.

I cannot express how bummed I am at this news... It feels like the death of a friend. Well, that's a bit of an overstatement, but it is a loss to be sure. I did notice the quality decline when Future took over and brought in a new lot of writers and editors... but I really appreciate the NP distinctives that remain: Ninty Fanboy service, a family-friendly vibe...
Nintendo Power is a unique and genuine expression of the Nintendo fanbase. I can only cling to the idea of a possible salvation via a digital crossover.

I live in the UK and I can understand how you feel as I collect issues of ONM and even though new issues don't excite me as much as they used to, it would still be sad if new ONM issues stopped being released.
I think I'll throw a party in their honor...and I shall be dancing on their grave.

That's so funny.
Right up to the point where you realise that people with children and families and mortgages probably just lost their jobs. In a market where journalists looking for work (let alone consumer journalists) are screwed.
hahahahahAHAHAHA so funny rite.
I really don't give a crap what some of you think about the magazine (I couldn't as I never read it), but for the love of the hundreds of Gods out there a bit of respect please.
Edit: just to clarify I'm not having a go at you specifically Mickey. Every time a company goes down people have a good old laugh without realising how inhumane they're being.
Heck, I used to before I realised exactly what happens when a company/ product goes bust.
