Topic: Needs more Chocobo

Are you suggesting that Chocobo can't do drama? Are you suggesting that Chocobo can't belong in a game with an overarching atmosphere of sadness, even fear?

My dear sir, I would suggest you haven't played all the Chocobo Dungeon games, then. The PSone ones, in particular, are tear-jerking in places.

It's a good question. I'm not sure if they're even on the Japanese PSN. I know Chocobo Racing is (I have it), and that game where you breed Chocobos for horse-racing style races (yeah, that's never getting an english translation), and Dice De Chocobo is also there.

But I don't think the dungeon ones are.

There are Chocobos in Metroid. Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion both feature Dachoras, which last I checked were nothing more than space Chocobos.

We need more Chocobo.... and cowbell!

You assume that a Chocobo has to be the good guy.

I have an easy counter to you - Chocobo bombers! (or even suicide bombers if you're going to be especially sadistic about it). Extra cool, and a nice variety on the sometimes bland enemy design that plagues Contra!

Phoenix Wright is a difficult one, but if you consider that Cid can essentially talk to Chocobo, it could be that Cid is called in to translate for Chocobo, who was a witness to a crime. Now, the stupid criminal didn't realise that Chocobo is an intelligent animal, and that's where the humour lies! How many talking animals are in Phoenix Wright? Not many - a clear missed opportunity for such an oddball game.

As for Art Academy - did you know that despite owning both DSi 'games,' I still have no idea how to draw a Chocobo. Clearly the 'game' is missing a very important tutorial.

The characters would ride chocobos through the levels.

100% agree. But a chocobo should not evolve. It should be an elite pokemon.

Super Smash Bros Brawl really upset me. Snake and Sonic are in there, but not Chocobo. However, since Square Enix and Nintendo are teaming up now (Mario sports games), perhaps the next Smash bros?

My game on page 1 feels lonely. Guess chocobos can't be in that...

Well, to be fair there are different types of Chocobo. There is the ultra-cute yellow buddy from the spin off games (see avatar), to the more serious "beast of war" type chocobo that populates the PS2/ PS3 Final Fantasies.

All you'd need to do is re-tweak the black chocobo and you would have a monster (or possibly companion animal) that fits the theme of Castlevania, but opens up new opportunities. How many Castlevania games featured horseback riding? None. SKIP THE HORSE AND GO STRAIGHT FOR THE CHOCOBO!
