@jump Your not wrong about the "political parties", from what I know there based somewhat on real life with the original trilogy being based on Vietnam and the prequels are based on the Bush era stuff. But it's all loosely based on real history. As for the sequel trilogy, air.
I'd say the biggest real world influence (in terms of the OT, but of the Empire in general) is definitely WWII. I'm not saying that there isn't any Vietnam war era sentiments that worked it's way in, but the Empire is practically just space Nazis.
Also, I highly doubt much if any Iraq War sentiment found it's way into the PT, as the first of the trilogy released a year before Bush was even elected president, and the second released before we invaded Iraq (with the preceding Afghanistan invasion still being generally popular at the time).

Yea, I remember reading somewhere that the prequels were based on stuff from around the "time". But I think it was just episode III that was based on any real history from the "time", I could be wrong though.
edit oh ya I forgot WWII (thats not good if i'm forget WWII)
Well i finally watched the batman. It's alright i suppose. That car chase scene was pretty wicked and cool looking. The length was a little much but at least it never got too dull or felt like it was dragging. I saw IT chapter 2 in theaters and by the time it was over i wanted to gouge out my eyes with a corkscrew.
In a weird way i still prefer Michael Keaton Batman to anything that has come since. Maybe it's nostalgia or i was just the right age when those came out that nothing to me has ever topped them.
I hear they're making the batman 2 so here's hoping for a better sequel.
@Rambler Well you could say the Jedi were killed off...I completely forgot to say films , even though that's what I was thinking "history" wise... (darn learning disability's)
@TheBladeOfRoses, just as a follow-up, it appears Sonic 2 is dropping digitally (and streaming on Paramount+) starting tomorrow, so the BD/DVD release probably isn't too far off now.

@Snatcher, yep, it's streaming on Paramount+ & available to buy digitally (on Amazon, Google Play, etc.) starting tomorrow, while the BD/DVD releases are arriving on August 9th.
@TheBladeOfRoses, yeah, Paramount+ is a US only thing at the moment I believe, so Netflix, Prime, or some such will probably pick up international distribution rights at some point.

@RR529 Probably Prime because they got Ghostbusters Afterlife last week (a paramount film) (i think), on that note I re-watched it, it's still in my opinion great.

I just watched Hail Caesar for the first time. I really enjoyed it, I've only seen one other Cohen brothers film, True Grit remake. I liked this film way more than the True Grit remake (mainly because I'm a big Marion Robert Morrison fan)
8/10
@Kermit1 I don't understand people who complain about there's only superhero films when they will only talk about and see superhero films. There's plenty of interesting action/blockbuster/genre films that aren't about comic book out now or soon like;
Northman, a nihilistic action blockbuster with blood and gore!
Three Thousands Years Of Longing, an ambitious and visually stunning dark fantasy.
Everything Everywhere All At Once, a bonkers indie dramedy with added kung fu.
Nope, the latest thinky man's horror film by Jordan Peele.
RRR, the best blockbuster you will never see as it has subtitles.
