@RR529@TheBladeofRoses@Snatcher Nowadays movies have complicated digital release schedules. Some studios put movies out digitally at the same time as in theatres, others do it theatre exclusively, or digital exclusively.
Warner Bros, for example, fell out with Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar, Tenet director) because he didn't like how they put their movies out digitally so quickly. His new deal with Universal includes a 100-day theatre exclusive period. Scarlet Johansson also had a spat with Disney because Black Widow was released digitally at the same time as in theatres, and her contract gave her a cut of the theatre ticket sales.
Other studios have a 45 or 60 day window. I imagine Sonic 2's in this window.
@Truegamer79 Let us know how it goes; I personally loved it! A little long but overall a masterfully made film IMO.
I’m disappointed with the Batman film, enjoyable and good take but it tries desperately hard to be a cerebral thriller of Batman’s journey from being vengeance to hero but instead it feels like a water down version of a Fincher film.
Batman is edgy because he listens to Nirvana and talks to himself lol
It’s a detective story where no detectiving happens as Batman literally ignores the case as he wants to focus on solving some easy riddles but still needs peoples help to do it lol
Earns becoming a hero by failing to stop The Riddlers murders, failed to stop Alfred being blown up, fails to bring justice to his parents murder, fails to stop the city being destroyed, fails to catch The Riddler, fails to pull Catwoman lol
It’s a shame that they have had to dress up the film as good guy wins the day, bad guy is bad silliness to appeal to the children in the audience as a film that explores an actually edgy Batman who fails could have been interesting like the Venom storyline where Batman is a drug addict with roid rage.
@Rambler they do tease an exploration about the role of old money in society and giving back to the community in The Batman but it gets quickly dropped. There is also potential of looking into the mindset of incel culture and conspiracy nuts but that angle is dropped quickly too so they can reduced the scary villain into a cray cray laughing idiot.
I do have an issue with Batman being such a big Nirvana fan, Kurt shot himself in the head and Batman would never use a gun!
@Rambler Yeah, The Batman is pretty bad in that aspect as Batman is really mindless and just wants to beat up goons when he's not listening to his 90's grunge playlist with no greater scheme on how to solve the crime problem in Gotham. It wouldn't be a problem as it worked great in the 60s and 80s Batman but this is meant to be a thinky Batman film. At least with Nolan's Batman it's addressed as The Joker is interfering with his plans bring the down the gangs or the white washed Ra's was using economics as a way to destroy the city.
Yep, paying fair tax is fair I'm surprised so many have issues with that and the Panama Papers were so widely ignored. Your point of business has such influence to in society often gets missed by most for stupid things instead, perhaps if Disney instead of casting black and women Stormtroopers in Star Wars which caused such outage and casted zero emissions and social healthcare it would have been a more interesting! ;p
Speaking on corporate influences, the first time I actually heard about the concept of lobbyists was in a Batman comic. It was No Man's Land story where the city is so messed up it's put under martial law so Bruce Wayne was trying to persuade Washington with the help of his lobbyist but his lobbyist pointed out most companies his size had alot more lobbyists on staff and his political donations are paltry so he's unlikely to win them over. After I finished reading I have spent the next hour googling what exactly lobbyists were.
@jump In some ways Batman went down a bad path and made immoral and reckless choices that sometimes resulted in failure, but I suppose that's reflect the fact that he's very new to the job (only 2 years of experience), and is generally written as an irrational, obsessive nocturnal. Giving Batman flaws, insecurities and weaknesses helps if the villains exploit them, and I think the movie did that, because Batman's supposed oversight meant the climax of the movie didn't even involve Riddler.
I mainly liked the film because it really involved a lot of "film people". Greig Fraser, the cinematographer of Dune, did this movie and he makes some great shots. I get why it could be seen as edgy though, I think they handled the Bruce Wayne persona as an extension of Batman instead of an alter ego, which made his character a little less interesting.
@Rambler Sometimes there could be a crossover, yeah. But there's naturally some movies that must be seen in cinemas at all costs, and luckily the directors of said movies know this. Dune did it, so did Batman to a lesser extent. And Nolan with his new lucrative 100 day exclusive deal with "Oppenheimer".
@Rambler yeah, Batman doesn’t really seem to care about people in this and just gets annoyed when he can’t hit people. At one point he is asked to look into a missing girl and he just says she was asking for it because she was a prozzie. He really should have been an Oasis fan instead of a Nirvana fan!
Star Wars can’t keep everyone happy anyway but I would like this bold new emphasis on trade regulations and restrictions to explain what exactly the universe is fighting over!
@BruceCM magic is easy to explain as it’s magic however the proper mechanics and procedure of buses is far more complicated and deserving of analysis.
He’s only ever manages to beat up some henchmen by himself. The end of the movie is cheeky, as he stands in the now flooded city which he didn’t stop or even feels bad about not preventing whilst the bodies of the poor people float past him down the street he just starts talking to himself about what a great hero he is. It’s like the meme of Obama giving Obama a medal.
Although my issue with it is largely tries really hard to be a cerebral thriller but it’s not clever enough to be clever rather than how it’s celebrating an incompetent hero.
@Link-Hero don’t get me wrong as I did enjoy The Batman but just not nearly as much as I wanted to sadly.
It smashes it out in the park in a lot of areas and you see what their vision they are going for is and it’s the vision you also want for a Batman movie too. It’s just the script wasn’t cracked so when the movie so has finished you’re left with an odd aftertaste of plot holes, narratives not matching arcs and loose threads.
I like to see The Batman's Batman as one who really took to heart what happened to his parents, so much so he's heavily mentally (more than others) traumatised and angry. In the film he's in his "second" year so it makes a little sense why he's still "learning" to be The Batman.
I hope in the next one this song plays edgy 80s song
^not a rick roll^
@Kermit1 why does he’s only been doing it for two years matter? Batman Begins he’s been Batman for a few weeks and actually saves the city unlike this Batman with more experience like defeating The Joker already but fails to save the city and literally declares himself a hero whilst no one is around.
@Rambler yeah, Nirvana wouldn’t be my first choice for music when I’m working out let alone going out to smash people’s skulls in. I’d go for testosterone bumping metal or off the walls high energy punk.
Speaking of Oi punk, I’m seeing Anti Nowhere League in a few weeks. This year is mental as almost every band is touring and it’s getting exhausting to see them all.
With Stat Wars I’d assume it’s the same as our political parties, the left suffer from infighting so they can’t put in a strong government whilst the right get things done in the name of evil together. So the Rebellion spent too long arguing about how to achieve free healthcare that they didn’t notice the Empire took power again and banned human rights to save money building their rip off Death Star.
@jump Your not wrong about the "political parties", from what I know there based somewhat on real life with the original trilogy being based on Vietnam and the prequels are based on the Bush era stuff. But it's all loosely based on real history. As for the sequel trilogy, air.
