@TheJGG Austin Powers isn't a knock off of Bond, it's a satire of Bond. The same way Scary Movie isn't a horror film as it's a comedy that just shouts horror references at you. The only thing more cringe than Austin Powers is all the people who watch Austin Powers and do impressions of it.

Personally I'd rate Kingsman as the best Bond-esque films going, it's takes it into wonderfully crazy and subversive directions. Not a movie but strangely the most realistic satire of Bond is Archer, despite being a cartoon if Bond, a toff who kills people for the government with sex and alcohol addictions, was real he'd be just like Archer. I'd also rank Danger 5 as brillaint too, it's lampoons the feeling of 60s media such as Bond masterfully without the on the nose references like Austin Powers.

@Rambler That article is terrible, it's called What You Need To Know About The Batman but it doesn't mention anything about The Joker, Gotham or who Nirvana are and why it's so edgy being played!

@Rambler It's not really Twilight Batman though, people are just being lazy and calling it that because of Pattison. It's David Fincher Batman (even though it's actually the guy who made the new Planet Of The Apes movies) but they couldn’t get Trent Renzor to do the soundtrack so they googled other 90s edgy music and found Nirvana. I find it odd they would use Nirvana as Kurt shot himself in the head and Batman would never use a gun!

So I expect the next Batman will be a Forest Gump knock off like how Fincher made Benjamin Button after exhausting his edginess by making Seven and Fight Club.

*edit to add I do like the movie, however there's alot it mangled which I can't help but make fun of.

Lupin III: Napoleon's Dictionary - 90's Film in the ever present long running anime franchise. It was okay, but never really elevated itself above feeling like an overly long episode of one of the TV series (even the animation felt like a half step between TV series & movie quality).

I was hoping for some sort of "Whacky Races" type antics given that the setup was supposed to be Lupin entering a classic car race across Europe in order to win Napoleon's dictionary (which is said to hold a clue to Lupin's family treasure) with the CIA (and other intelligence agencies) trying to capture him along the way, however you practically never even see any of the other contestants. It's largely just Lupin's gang getting chased across Europe by said intelligence agencies which could have easily been done without the race setup.

It sure has it's moments if you're already a fan of the franchise, however I can't see any reason to watch it otherwise.

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I'm gonna rank / recommend my favourite "Disney" films (live action, no animation since my list has been done 100 times)

1. Mary Poppins: Duh, It's amazing, if you don't like it idk

2. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: A science fiction masterpiece

3. The Absent-Minded Professor: The that was remade into Flubber

4. Gus: I love this movie, it's about a football (USA) playing donkey (kinda)

5. BlackBeard's Ghost: Fun. just Fun.

6. Home Alone: (it's a Disney movie now) -__-

7. The Love Bug: Wow the car has more character than most Disney films of now

8. Moon-Spinners: A crime thriller made by Disney??

9. The Three Musketeers: It's cheesy fun with Tim Curry as the Villain

10. Master and Commander: You get it, it's a "Disney movie now"

I would have added the Muppet movies but alias. They're on my top 5 films of all time.

Honorable Mentions: (for fun)

Citizen Kane

Casablanca

Playtime {Jacque Tati}

What are you guys's thoughts on the new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder?

I thought it was pretty good personally, even if it's exactly what I expected of another Watiti Thor movie, save for Jane Foster appearing.... which had been revealed at Comic Con many years prior. I'll definitely still be watching it though, even if I'm miffed that it got pushed back to July since it's original release date just so happened to be my birthday. Do you know what movie did happen to fall on my birthday though? Eternals. Wonderful.

@Fizza Eh, I might pass it to honest, depends though I'm a little marvel'ed out. I am passing on Doctor Strange MoM because I hate the America Chavez character, but I'm loving Moon Knight, episode 4 is my favorite so far (mainly because it reminded me of Return to OZ and Indiana Jones).

Not a movie, but I'm including it here anyways since we don't seem to have a (up to date) general TV series thread (Just specific threads for Disney, Netflix, & Anime).

Anyhow I finished up American Crime Story: Impeachment recently, and thought it was fantastic.

Dramatization of the events leading up to & surrounding the Clinton impeachment scandal, and other than a bit of a mustache twirling vibe in terms of it's depictions of some of the conservative journalists of the time, I thought it did an impeccable job giving a nuanced, humanizing look at all parties involved.

I just finished watching the Divergant series, and while I was dissapointed by the incomplete ending (Spoiler for a now 6 year old movie) There was a lot to like about the series as a whole.

Meh, personally I liked The Hunger Games a lot better. Those films were so well made. The first one especially really captured the feeling of being in the games. The bloodbath scene is one of my favourites, because of the shaky camerawork (really works here to convey a sense of panic), the score and the performances.

@TheJGG Hunger games, dang those movie are darn good, what did you think of the last one? I can't remember them too well because its been a wile but I remember liking how they ended up doing the kills, it was so tense and you never know who is going to go.

I’ve wanted to watch Turning Red for a few weeks and today I got the chance. It’s such a brilliant movie with a lot of heart, relatability and energy. To most of the detractors of this movie; I don’t think you have a single clue what you’re talking about. Like the whole “movie isn’t historically accurate because they didn’t mention 9-11” nonsense that came about the other week. There’s just no pleasing some people in this day and age.

I was worried I’d be mainly irritated with Meilin, but I don’t think the trailers painted the right image for me. She’s confident, but very insecure at the same time, but with a group of friends that care so much for her. Her friends are really likeable too, and even the “anti-hero” Tyler. He’s a sweet kid deep down. We were all like that at some point.

I know the creative team had to twist some arms but I like how bold and un-shy the writing was. Most times it was done for intentionally awkward and cringe inducing moments and it worked so well. The conflict isn’t original by any means but it’s well done anyway. So glad I could sit down and enjoy this film for what it was; a damn good time.

But… some smaller things hold it back from absolute perfection. A lot of the times the resolution of the conflict is resolved too quickly. They forgive each other for potentially life scarring incidents like they just tripped over each other. Pixar did that with Luca too, though it was a little slower then too.

@Snatcher The Hunger Games series overall is very good. The last one isn’t as OTT action packed as the first two but it has this stealth, infiltration, political thriller feel that combine in a unique way. This film shows best how broken Panem truly is, and the way it goes down is very good IMO.

Um, I did not know this was even real. Earlier I was on IMDB as one does looking at Terry Jones and I found this, a 1996 Monty Python-ish, remake? kids film. So I went on you tube looing for a trailer but found the full movie. Here it is, in all it's 240p VHS glory. it's disney btw

Road House - A professional bouncer is hired to clean up house at a rowdy bar outside Kansas City, but gets more than he bargained for when he has the nephew of the local mob boss fired.

It's full of cheesy machismo (there's nothing, not even firearm equipped assailants, that can't be overcome with a few well placed roundhouse kicks), but still manages to exude a sense of cool with a classic Americana vibe. It perhaps runs a bit longer than it needed to (though the fact I watched it on an ad supported service didn't do it any favors in this regard), but I don't regret watching it.

The Uncharted movie is actually really good, no award winner by any means but its a goo video game movie.

I loved how they mixed the games together and did there own thing instead of just re-telling the games, because the games kinda feel like movies already, 8/10 for me actually! (And yes I know I was the one dude here trashing it the whole time LMAO)
