Given that the most active this thread has been for a while is over cartoons playing basketball and an reboot of a notoriously bad martial arts film there’s no worry of good films let alone Oscar worthy ones ;p
Also I just watched the Mitchells v.s. the Machines on Netflix which is made by Sony animated and it was pretty dang good actually. One of the better comedies I've seen in a while actually.
Games I'm playing right now:
OoT N64
DK64 N64
Lego LotR Wii
Spirit Tracks DS
TotK Switch
Just watched Glass, I should have known better to to watch a M. Night Shyamalan movie but the other two in the trilogy tricked into thinking this would be good. The kicker for me is that they decided to build up and foreshadow this big fight but it doesn’t happen and there’s a plot twist instead. I feel sorry for Sarah Paulson as she can legit act but I keep seeing her in rubbish films.
Also watched The Candyman which surprised me by being so much better than the typical slasher horror movie into something that stands on its own merit. I’m gonna continue watching the various sequels now.
Morgan, good but it’s a seen it all already sci-fi A.I. movie but the cast & acting were strong enough for it to stand out amongst the likes of Blade Runner and Ex Machina even if it's not as good as those.
And The Death of Stalin which was kinda disappointing. Instead of it being a dark satire it felt like a silly BBC 2 sitcom and it should have been darker for me if everyone is gonna say it’s so dark. As it was loosely based on a true events I googled/wikied it afterwards and it was nothing like it but I suppose it was meant to capture the everyday feel of the commoners at the times rather than the political shenanigans.
Gas Pump Girls (Amazon Prime Video) - 70's comedy that sees a young high school graduate (along with a small group of her friends) running her uncle Joe's gas station over the summer after he's laid out by a minor heart attack (induced due to anxiety over the fact that his mom n' pop operation is threatened by the sleek new corporate outfit across the street taking his business).
A pretty standard story of the little guys standing up to the big conglomerate, though with any deep acting or heavy themes sidelined in favor of a lighthearted vibe, mostly centered around nudity & sexual innuendo. Not the worst way to spend an afternoon as long as you know what you're getting into & take the time era into consideration.
Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon? Arrow of the Orion (HiDive via VRV) - Film adaptation of the Light Novel/Anime series that takes place between the anime's first two seasons. Here, our hero Bell obtains a legendary weapon (sword in the stone style) and as such he and the gang are called off to slay a powerful monster that threatens the entire world.
It's okay, though it kinda just feels like an extended episode due to the fact that the animation/style doesn't really hit any highs that seem above & beyond what you see in the tv series. That's not necessarily a shot, as the show can look absolutely gorgeous, but given that the film's narrative is an aside unrelated to the core story, it means there's no reason to really check it out unless you've watched the anime & want more.
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones! (Disney+) - Middle entry in the prequel trilogy of the legendary franchise, that continues to follow the exploits of young Jedi Anakin Skywalker and how he slowly starts taking steps to a dark future...
It can be really slow & has some aged CGI elements, but overall I still enjoyed it.
Star Wars: the Clone Wars (Disney+) - Taking place inbetween episodes 2 & 3 of the prequel trilogy, this animated feature covers some exploits of Jedi such as Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi (including the former grudgingly taking on an energetic young apprentice, Ashoka) during the titular "Clone Wars".
Released in advance of the Clone Wars animated television series, the film was actually made by taking a few episodes intended for the forthcoming series and stapling them together for theatrical release. It shows, but is a decent enough time if you're in a Star Wars mood.
I watched Black Widow yesterday and liked it. It was over the top in action sequences but enjoyable.
Her backstory is good even if the character is little boring.
A movie I can't wait for this year is Spider-Man No Way Home!

Finally, see the Lion King remake!
Want to say that's not so emotional like the first one coz of not showing feelings on the faces of heroes in this version movie or maybe I've been made older. Anyway it's nice to see it again
@Zuljaras I saw it three days ago and I thought it was a great film. I follow the MCU, though I haven’t seen all of the films, and it ties in perfectly into the rest of the MCU. And the post credits scene was very touching.
@TheJGG I was little angry with the post scene to be honest.
Clint Burton does not deserve assassins (especially Natasha's little "sister") send after him because it is NOT his fault for the death of Natasha. She did it willingly because he has a real family to return to after they reverse the Thanos snap

@Zuljaras Clint was a hero and his willingness to do what Natasha ultimately did was proof. Thing is, nobody knows about the finer details of what happens on Voromir, so while I’m not happy that Clint’s being framed, would you or me assume otherwise? Since they both went and only one came back…
@TheJGG I guess this will be the next Disney+ MCU show after Loki. The confrontation of Clint and Yelena. Probably Sharon Carter (Peggy's granddaughter) will also be involved as she is working with that violet-hair weirdo in Falcon and the Winter soldier series.

@Sdelintwouters I was offered a chance to see it in an advance screening but tbh I couldn't be arsed to see it. I'm not really of Dune (I'm not a hater, I'm just not invested in it) and I'm not keen on seeing a part 1 when part 2 may not ever come.
@Sdelintwouters I've been told I'd like Dune if I gave it a read but I watched the Lynch movie as a kid and didn't like it but then I generally dislike Lynch in general. It's almost maddening be told over and over again that Twin Peaks is the greatest show ever made with the caveat the first season is slow, the later seasons are rubbish but half of the 2nd season is good. HOW DOES THAT MAKE IT THE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE!?
@TheJGG So you did like the black widow movie? I only watched about two weeks ago, it was really good, I didn't think I would like it bc I feel like the other movies she was in, didn't really do a good job making me like her, but this movie changed all that.
Ok I have something I need to say, I....don't really like the the mitchells vs. the machines, I just, Ya thats all I will say 5/10
Also I didn't know we had a movie thread, dumb me LOL.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Zuljaras I do kinda agree with you on that, that was a little annoying but its not like she new that.
I like her character much better here, then the other mcu movies she was in, She was boring as hell for me, And I just never connected with her. till after this movie that is.

@Snatcher it’s shocking right. It’s like they decided to focus on the writing of the character and giving her own motives rather than close up camera shots of her arse and making her a love interest seems to have resulted in her having more personality which people seemed to have liked.
@jump hey i wanted to mention to you the other day how I'm pretty sure Twin Peaks is the greatest show ever made. You should really check it out sometime, even though the first season's slow, the later seasons are crap, but the first half of the second season is pretty alright.
Seriously though - I hated Twin Peaks the first time I watched it. Then i found myself really liking it, and I can't explain why. Lynch in general is a director i'm 50/50 on. Some stuff I love (Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive) and other stuff annoys me to no end (Wild at Heart, lost highway).

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.
@jump Thank you! Thats Just what I mean, It was a female director for the movie, Sounds like they wanted her to be an actual character this time around.

@Losermagnet Funnily enough I watched Twin Peaks after I had finished The Wire which has legit cause to be called the greatest show ever.
I stopped it somewhere towards the end of season 2. Going in I knew about the backwards midget so I was expecting a really trippy surreal show but found it to be more oddbeat with it’s bad (intentional?) acting and slower simpleness. It was a few years ago so I may have a different impression of it today but I’d say it is a worse version of Desperate Housewives ;p
@Snatcher next Marvel can fix up their other female characters by making then smile more like the men too ;p
