Nintendo should release Metroid II: Return of Samus on the eShop.

I'm back (for the moment)!

Super Metroid is Metroid 3 so seeing Metroid 3-2 would be irrelevant. And Metroid II: Return of Samus was originally released for the GameBoy so it would make sense to put it, in some form, on 3DS.

Yeah, if they do anything it's probably going to be Metroid II on 3DS Virtual Console. It wouldn't surprise me to see a new 2D game in 2012, either. What I'm most excited about is how they'll handle Metroid on the Wii U. One way or another, the new console is going to represent a monumental change for the series.

Yeah I'm aware "Return of Samus" was originally for the Gameboy, I owned the game. Hence the Castlevania Rebirth. This celebration shouldn't be limited to only the desires of handheld gamers, console owners derserve to be recognized as well. @Rift 2D Metroid titles are the only type I will spend my money on ever again.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Other M may have been a disaster, but Metroid Prime is one of the best games in the series. And that means a lot coming from me, because I hate FPSs.

Super Metroid is probably my favourite game of all time. It's an absolute masterpiece.

Despite it's linearity and such I actually really like Metroid Fusion. It's the only handheld game to date to creep me out and get me very tense and worried. and it was all that damn SA-X! Possibly one of the most terrifying videogame sprites ever!

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are about beam-stacking. I think it worked well in the earlier games, and on the GBA. I also think Metroid Prime added a lot of depth to the action by having four separate beams to switch between, and Prime 3 threw me off by going back to stacking (I guess Hypermode makes up for that, though). I'd love to see a game that expands on Super Metroid's equip system, so that you could use combinations of different beams, but the game wouldn't let you use too many at the same time.

Oh, and I always thought it was funny how Samus was able to use the Ice Beam and the Plasma Beam at the same time.

It's August 5th and every self respecting Metroid fan knows what tomorrow is!

So, I just finished Metroid Fusion on my GBA and it was good but I dont think there was anything to memorable about it. The tunes I thought were mediocre, which was a bummer for me unfortunately. I mean come'on, this is friggin' Metroid. I should want to just stand in one spot and listen to the level, or in this case sector's soundtrack for a moment before proceeding. Oh well, it was still a jolly good time to play. Next on my Metroid list is everyone's favorite, Other M. I wish they would rerelease the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii so I could play Prime and Prime 2.

@Rift I too liked Super Metroid's equip system. The super does everything beam just doesn't cut it for me. I like to customize and switch between different weapons. Reminds me of Mega Man I guess in that it makes you have to use strategy in which weapon to use.

I always thought Fusion's music was kind of boring, but about a week ago I found myself humming the Main Deck theme, and now I can't get it out of my head. Weird, huh?

It's almost the big day~

In celebration of Metroid's 25th, I'll be playing Super Metroid from start to finish tomorrow, hopefully without stopping. I've also written a little fanfic in celebration too. Couple that with already playing through Metroid (twice), Metroid: Zero Mission, Metroid Prime, and Metroid: Other M (hoping to beat Fusion tonight before I start Super as well), and I hope I'm doing my part.

And Fusion has the Sector 1 (SRX) theme, which owns. :3

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I was gonna play through Metroid Prime 3 again (as I completed both 1 and 2, finally with 100% at some point in the past year or two) but I can't find it.

Maybe some Super Metroid. Despite loving it, I haven't played it through a 2nd time (this would be a bigger deal if I didn't first get it on VC).

I don't know what to do. I either beat every Metroid 100% or I don't own it. I guess I could finally beat...Echoes.

Just for you.

I only need three more octoliths to beat Hunters, so I think I'll knock them out today in celebration. All I need to do is take out the bosses, since I've already collected all the keys. I'll see about maybe marathoning the whole series later on this month to really celebrate Metroid's 25th...

Happy Birthday, Samus Aran (man I feel old)! Circa March 1988, Metroid was the first platformer that I ever "finished" (that is, beat and got a certifiable ending, when not many games had back then...). Hope to see some sign of celebration from Nintendo! They could start by releasing Metroid II: Return of Samus next week on VC, and announcing Metroid Dread (or some classic Metroid platformer!!!).

Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

Happy 25th anniversary for Samus and the Metroid series and here's to another hopeful 25 years for the future.

Happy 25th Anniversary Metroid! It's been 25 yrs. since the release of the original Metroid on the NES and it still hasn't been completely mapped. I've been actually playing it for my first time, I never owned the original until this year. I had always spent my time playing Return of Samus on the Gameboy at that age and never gave much thought to it. I've been taking it kind of slow playing it, but I'm about to fight my first boss. Maybe one day soon in the future, I'll actually try finding every hidden zone and map it.

@Kingbuilder: Excellent video, thanks for posting it. The next 25 years better be filled with as many memorable entries (if not more) as the last...
