Topic: Mega Man 2 or 3?

So as you may have read, I recently got into Mega Man. Downloaded 1, 2, 3, and 10.

So far played and beat 2 and 3. I'm told there is a lot of debate (or was) about which is the better. Having just played and beat both, I have to say, I can't see why - Mega Man 2 is the better game, all day long. And most of the next day.

The slowdown goes by hardly noticed in 2, in 3 it's a pain from start to finish. The music - Mega Man 2 is in a different universe - best 8bit soundtrack. Number 3? I'd say a few catchy songs, nothing in the league of AirMan, or Dr Wily first stage though.

3 also drags on a bit, 8 Masters, 8 from Mega man 2, then the 8 again in the transporters, then the Wily bosses - they all just melt into 1 never ending, and slightly boring boss. You can have too much of a good thing.

The stages themselves were just less interesting as well - I'd take SnakeMan and maybe GeminiMan, their stages, and that's about it from this game, that match up to the quality of 2. Maybe the idea of remixing stages as well.

So yeah, what do you think? 2 or 3 the better game and why?

I don't think 3 is a bad game, btw, but having played both, 2 sounds much better, looks just as good, has better stage design, and feels more epic.

Mega man, the original is next, btw...bring it on.

2 is better. Better music, better level design (not by much, but still), less slowdown...

3 is great. It has its definite charms, and it introduced Protoman, and the slide...both of which I love.

But nothing touches 2.

EDIT: The fact that 2 is so much better than 3 speaks more to how great 2 is, than how disappointing 3 is. They're both effing brilliant.

Both are very good. I like 3's bosses more, but 2 has easier gameplay, imo at least.

As for the 9 10, etc, I will get onto them after beating 1.

Is 1 much harder than 2 and 3? No password and E Tanks... sounds brutal.

To me, at least, it is quite more difficult. I've been stuck on some of MM1's Robot Masters for awhile now.

In my memory, 1 was faaaaar harder than 2, and therefore 3. But I need to re-download it at some point to be sure.

9 is downright brutal, and 10 seems a bit harder so far...with only three robot masters left I keep getting my butt handed right back to me.

MM2. It has better music, better stage design, and simpler, more straight-forward gameplay. I prefer most of 2's stages over most of 10's, too.

I like 3 better. I'm not a big MM fan, though. Although, 2 does, admittedly, have better stage design.

I didn't like 1 at all, though.

as a kid i probably would have picked 3, but now i'd go with 2.

2 by far.
Sliding was just too much to handle 3=

I prefer 2 which had an awesome intro with Mega Man standing on that skyscraper with his hair waving in the wind. As epic as 8-bit games can go.

MM3, it's enjoyable all around, sure the robot master screen sucks compared to all the others, everything else is fun.

In MM2 6/13 stages in the game suck, who cares how they sound when Crash Man's stage, and the entirety of Wily's Castle is no fun. MM2 has an amazing soundtrack though.

Out of this, Mega Man 2, thought I still absolutely love Mega Man 3 as well.
