@WoomyNNYes the speicals i feel are to tie up loose ends with the nobles as i heard that tate could only commit to one series where as she was ment to be in s3 as well

I love the new tardis it combines elements of the classic one(hartnell to baker) as well as the 80s one and took hints from smiths and capaldis but the size of it was closer to the movie one and it had a shape similar to the rtd one whilst the box its self is jodies but recoloured

The theme tune was great being the rtd style but with a smithesqe intro and a movie inspired middle 8(please rtd give us an 8th dr spin off on bbc tv)

The LGBT aspect was worked in very well and i'm looking forward to the next

Yes... yes you are.
This episode was amazing! The aliens are silly again. And that's what I loved about RTD era Doctor Who! And it will get more serious with the Celestial Toymaker. Alternating serious and silly episodes is the way to go.

The difference in quality to the past 3 seasons is astounding. Of course I have to see more to really tell, but this episode was even better than many Moffat era episodes.

I'm happy that they managed to get the old voice actors of Donna and her mother in the German dub. Sadly the VA of the Doctor passed away and they had to give him a new voice, which is a little irretating but fine I guess. (I watch all episodes dubbed and original btw.)

As someone who generally enjoyed the 13th Doctor era despite its flaws, I personally wouldn't say this special was a massive step up - I think the resolution to the Metacrisis being tied to Rose Noble's identity was quite badly explained, and Beep the Meep's plot felt slightly rushed in favour of focusing on Donna and her family (which was the bit I cared more about, to be fair). But the humour and characterisation in the dialogue was a lot better than it has been for the last three series, and it was just a really fun episode on the whole. Can't wait for the next two specials.

By the way, @AndroidiOS could you or a mod rename this thread to The Doctor Who Thread or something along those lines? (Maybe 'The Unofficial Doctor Who Fan Thread' if we want consistency with the Star Trek one)

It’s good to see even with the extra money the yankee Disney company is pouring into the show they have remembered what makes the show work, fast paced monologues to explain things!

I always get a cheap thrill from seeing Camden Town in London (where the first new one was filmed) in shows/movies probably because I’ve spent so much time a kid there and then so much time in their pubs and clubs as an adult. They should have finished the episode with The Doctor and Donna having a pint in Dublin Castle at 2am, having banter with randoms in the smoking area and then off to get a kebab!

I firmly beleive that the canon was a Double Cherry canon. And like with Mario 3D World the question comes up... : Who is the original? Which TARDIS is the original?!? 😂
It's very interesting how they translated the Toymaker in the German dub. They kept the stereotypical German-English mix, but the other way around. Some English words with the accent.
I never realised until now that the VA of Neil Patrick Harris sounds A LOT like him. Now that I heard the original speaking some German. 😅
(Oh and it's absolutely not weird that his VA also voices Captain Jack Harkness )

@Budda I wondered how they'd do that in German! I love the complete nonsense almost-German dialogue ('ge-raining', etc)

Not sure I like how the new Doctor came about, it seems cheap but hey-ho.

I loved how camp the Xmas episodes was, it reminded me of Labyrinth and the sub plot of the fostering was very nice. It could so with more actual baby eating though, like all of a sudden it became an 80s splatter horror as you watch babies being eaten!
