Topic: Let's plays or reviews?

I like browsing the good old YouTube for stuff about games and I always come to 2 main gaming shows, let's plays an reviews. Im personally not a let's play fan for two. Main reasons. Reason one is that there are just so many of them and that it just takes barely any skill to make because all you have to do is talk about What your playing and make up a joke here and there. Second is that I find LPers seem to swear all the Time, and I really hate swearing because it really doesn't accomplish anything and it deprives others of finding a variety of clean videos on YouTube, but before the LP fans string me to a pole and burn me at the stake I do have some beef with reviews. I find that a lot of reviewers studder and that is because they don't really go through the script and memorize them until they can say it in Their sleep. Also when I see a review on YouTube it is usually somebody who just sits at their desk and Talks about it without having a microphone, but enough of my jabbering what do you think when you watch someone review or let's play and what do you like better?

I like Let's Plays for some games I don't feel like playing, but am interested in the story and such. Or if I know i'm not going to buy it and just want to see it in action.
To be honest I hate when people commentary, but sometimes it's funny.

I like when people do reviews on Youtube though, as long as it's spoiler free i'm all good with it. They are fun to watch.
Tails86 who is (was?) a N-Life regular, if you know him, he does Wii-kly reviews. He's one of the few guys I like to see talk about games and review them.
There was one other guy I used to watch a couple years ago but his names eludes me now.

Nowadays I find myself watching Replays though. A group of guys who play and talk about old classics. Game Informer does this, and they are hilarious. It's always a treat to watch them every Saturday.
They also do Super Replays which is basically a Let's Play.

Bad or good games, it's fun to watch people play the game while talk about it, but I favor the more professional side. Except for the rare exceptions above as far as Youtube goes.

Let's Plays are fun to watch. But that depends. They have to be funny and/or be interesting. Have a great voice at the least. I enjoy watching Chicken Brutus's Mega Man Let's Plays. A lot.

As for reviewers, I really don't enjoy watching them because they're either fanboys or biased. Or just plain stupid.

I prefer let's plays with little to no commentary. It at least keeps the recorder's opinions out of the way of the game's impressions. In most game reviews I've seen (amateur ones), they say BUY DIS GAME IS SO GEWD ADD ME ON PSWII AND SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE THIS VIDEO.

A mix if I'm curious, a review let's me see if it sounds worth it, then a Let's Play or Walkthrough, let's me see the start of the game, then I choose from there if I'm deciding

I'm usually OK with Let's Plays, but it usually depends on if the player has good, useful commentary, they don't swear too much (because then it just gets annoying), or if they're not just generally annoying. I think that reviews are more useful when trying to decide to get a game, and Let's Plays are better when you have a game and you need help on how do get further, for instance. But of course, it just depends on who's doing the reviewing/playing.

@lonlon-milker "Let's plays or reviews?"

Neither. I don't like listening to other people giving their opinions over a game, in either format. I prefer looking up plain gameplay videos. I want to get a feel for myself if I'll like a game by seeing it in action itself.

@Melkor I prefer too look up just the cutscenes themselves if I want the story and such. I actually spent two hours watching Arkham Asylum cutscenes. Didn't know it was coming to Wii U lol

I think I might try to terminate my account. I'm not cut out for posting on forums lol

I prefer longplays. Generally not a fan of the commentary in Let's Plays.
