B, definitely. Never heard of water purifying pills though.

C, I'm sure it has tips on how to start a fire and build a shelter and how to trap animals. I'd commit the book to memory!

Unless there's a pure spring on the island filled with clean water, B, definately. I already know plenty on surviving in the wild (Not that I'd ever need to, lol) and it's hard to start a life-sustaining fire with a midical kit, knife, or rifle. An axe would get you wood and also protect you from any wild animals. Although, 10 feet of rope would be very useful.
Edit: Just noticed the island has dinosaurs. Would still go with B because of the water purifying pills, though.

I choose D. Nothing, just my epic manliness. I shall roam the forests naked and wrestle bears.

B

I can't do that water/purification/evaporation crap, so I need to get those pills. Also, I'd probably just stay where I am and cry, so I wouldn't need a medkit or a survival handbook.

The answer is C. You got those three things and your good to go.
When did you say we were going again?

[Edited by OldBoy]

What's this bit for again?

Bankai

C is the right answer.

You can purify water by boiling it - so it's unnecessary to have water purifying pills. You can create fire without a fire starter (any good SES handbook will tell you how), so a firestarter is unnecessary.

The rifle is utterly unnecessary, since if you're going to try and hunt dinosaurs for three years, you're going to die. The medical kit is a nice to have, but again, rudimentary treatments should be covered by the SES handbook. The knife is the least useful utility of all.

Meanwhile, the Machete can be used to start fires. The rope can be used to reach places safe from dinosaurs. The SES guide will help you find food and otherwise look after yourself.

You should trust me on this one. I'm Aussie, and Aussies are proven to be the best survivalists of all

You can start a fire with two sticks.

Plus, it's a Machete.

I agree with Waltz. C is the way to go.

But where can you put the water?

From the pictures it looks like we're looking at a tropical island. There's plenty of "containers" in nature to collect and hold the water (and you would need to do that with option B as well - there's no container in that option. Only option A has a container, and that's if you empty the medical kit). Heck, if there's coconuts you're right for water without even needing to boil it first.

A few things:

A rifle is never unnecessary.

WaltzElf wrote:

I disagree. That would be the axe, especially the one in the picture.

Sure you can, but have you tried that? It's hard as hell in optimal conditions.

Oops, forgot to put my pick. I'd go for B just for the firestarter. If I'm cheating I'd take the knife from A, firestarter from B and rope from C.

A rifle is never unnecessary.

In the context of this game, it is. Because you will not be hunting dinosaurs for three years. Killing stuff should be the last priority in an environment that's so overtly hostile. Being able to hide (somewhere dinosaurs can't reach) is far, far more important.

I disagree. That would be the axe, especially the one in the picture.

The Axe and Machete would be useful in collecting firewood. A knife couldn't. Knives are useful tools in survival, to be sure, but it would defineately not be in my top three - not if I already had a Machete.

Sure you can, but have you tried that? It's hard as hell in optimal conditions.

I actually can start fires using sticks. I admit I cheated in that I have done survival courses, and the Australian environment is a little... drier and fire-prone than that of a tropical island, but hey, you're stranded on a island. You have months to practice.

I'm playing it safe with B. A and C can get you killed easily. And on top of it all... your on an island full of dinosaurs. I don't think eating right, and sleeping right will be your main concerns....

How can C get you killed? You do realise what's in a SES survival guide, right? It lists foods that are safe to eat, how to build safe shelters, safe fires, all that stuff. If you don't eat well enough, and can't find a safe place to sleep, you'll be dead too. Sleep is critical in the wild since, when you're awake, you can't afford to be tired, and trip on a root and break your ankle.

Think about this - if you don't build your fire right, the smoke will attract a T Rex. You're dead, and probably regretting picking the fire starter.

I'll wager that 90% of the NintendoLife people would badly need a survival guide if they found themselves stuck in the wilderness (not a criticism, but the wild is a hostile environment if you don't know what you're doing - and that is before you factor in dinosaurs. Guessing will get you killed quickly)
