I need help from somebody in US, preferably from someone that has a PayPal account so that I can pay the helping hand. So.. what do I need help with you ask.

I was recently in contact with the support department for some audio equipment. The issue is that I wanted the newest firmware EEPROM sent to me. -No problem they said, we ship it to you if you live in US. I don´t, so I asked them if they could send it to a friend of mine instead. -No problem they say. Here is were you come in...
I will send them your adress.
They send you the EEPROM.
You forward it to me.
I send you $5 through PayPal for your troubles.

Want to help me? Let me know on mange586(at)spray.se

Mange, your request appears innocent enough, but most people are rightly hesitant to give out their personal information to those whom they don't know personally. The horror stories from those that do are myriad and well publicized.

If you would like to give the contact details of the company, along with the part number you're requesting, perhaps someone would be more amenable to going that route as opposed to giving YOU the info to pass along to the company.

That said, the safest, most reliable method for you to get your item without making anyone cautious is to simply use a mail-forwarding service. It will cost you some, but there are many to choose from. A Google search will provide you with several respectable options.

Good luck, Mange.

Yeah Mange, I use a service in Japan to buy my auction items there and ship them to me. A bit expensive, but it works.

If I lived in the US I wouldn't hesitate to help, as I chat with him often and know he is sound. An honest hard-working family man. Wish I could help dude, and I hope somebody does.

Can you (or anyone, really) recommend such a service? My all-region DVD player is on the way out, I think, and getting a decent one in the first place was such a nightmare. The ability to buy "locally" from another country and have it forwarded to me would be an enormous help.

Is that $5 supposed to include the cost of the forwarding shipping? Hardly seems worth a guy's trouble. Of course, that's why those aforementioned services cost so much, I suppose.

Aren't u from Kamino anyway?

From there, yes, but I am currently on a mission for the new republic and I must guard this planet from the sith. I have been stationed in the area know by earthlings as "The United States of America".

You can try, but I feel I must warn you that our alien technology is far more advanced then the technology found on your planet. You would be eliminated by our armed forces before the republic-decepticon war even starts.

Guys? There's a chat room, you know. Let's not completely derail Mange's thread.

More advanced? I'm a huge robot that transforms into a tiny cassette player! I'd like to see ur Mandalorian body do that.

I use Rinkya Phil. A bit expensive, but very reliable and easy to use.

Can't you change the region code yourself?

Thanks for the link. Historically I've had 0% success hacking a DVD player, though. I don't know if the instructions were bad or the models numbers inaccurate or what, but it ended up resulting a in a string of opened DVD players being very difficult to return to the retailer. :/

I bought my last one from England (thanks to an internet friend who, sadly, doesn't live there anymore) and before that I got one from Japan, which died within a year. I also tried ebay, and ended up with a DVD player which was emphatically NOT multi-region as the description claimed. It just came with instructions for hacking which, well...didn't work.

I'd gladly try it again, but I don't want to risk another purchase just for that chance. I have baaaad luck with that.

@Vendetta: thanks for the mail forwarding service tip. I´m googling right now. Never heard of such a service... quite stunned there actually is a market for such service.

For those curious ones... The eeprom will contain the newest (and last) firmware version for the Behringer DSP9024 wich is a six band stereo compressor.

I don't find it odd that there's a market for such a service at all. Did you really think you're the only one who finds himself in this kind of situation, Mange? I've wanted to import games from certain websites before, only to find that they don't ship to America. Such services would be very useful, I think.
