When you know you are going to get a game, do you like to find out everything you can about the the game and buld your hype for it, or avoid most information and have it be a suprise in the game? I lean towards having things be a suprise. I prefer to discover things inside the game instead of finding out what going to be in the game by reading previews and watching trailers. In fact, I'm thinking about doing a total blackout for Uncharted 4 once it's announced. I kind of view a lot of the information released for games to be spoilers to an exent.
Well I like to know a little about the game since I am on somewhat of a budget and I want to know if the game is worth full price or bargain bin. I tend to avoid stuff such as plot or story elements and read up on the basic type of game and reviews to see if its worth my money but that's about it.

It depends how long the wait is, and how badly I'm looking forward to the game. I'll tend to gobble up any news I can, while trying to avoid major spoilers as much as possible. It's not easy to balance, and sometimes I just can't help myself.
Depends on the game, but in many cases, full on surprise and trusting my instincts on what I might like. I bought Xenoblade Chronicles simply because I heard it was a good RPG, and I enjoyed every moment of it, and had my mind blown. So much.

I hype myself up alot. I dont really find it to be spoilers. Just more like getting someone elses opinion about the game. Although I dont typically watch Lets Plays of games I am particularly interested in. :3
I've never had the dedication to keep up a blackout, but I've never been the one to find out as much info as possible either. There's never been a game which I was super excited or super surprised by though.
So many times I see that overhyping makes a good game look terrible in the public's eye (Kingdoms of Amalur, Diablo 3, Fable 3, Daikatana), but the "surprise" games usually fall under the radar and don't get the recognition they deserve. The former is better for developers since they'll make more sales, but worse for players since there will be huge amounts of internet hate to slog through. I generally prefer the surprise method though, since I love going into a game with low expectations and then getting blown away.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Unless I'm pretty certain a game is going to be amazing, I try to learn minimal about it so I don't get overhyped to the point that I feel disappointed by an awesome game (see: Brawl and Skyward Sword).
Now that I think about it Im probably not going to look at a single piece of info when a Paper Mario for Wii U is revealed. Aside from the annoucement trailer.
